Miami Marlins
Miami took the series opener and got back up over .500. I know that is symbolic but as long as they keep it in range they can be in the race. That has to be the goal though because I think winning the division is not realistic for this group.
When Jonathan Villar was acquired I thought he would give them more of a spark. He has six stolen bases but he has not gotten on base with regularity. I don’t see why he does not steal every time he gets on base.
Rookie Humberto Mejia had made just two starts in his career. Neither have gone all that well or deep. He is giving up home runs too frequently to have success. Both of his starts were against the Mets.

Washington Nationals
Washington might be relying too much on the fact that they have turned around things in the past and made the playoffs. This year there is just not as much time. They are in last place, tied with Philly, heading into Saturday action.
Juan Soto is great but not signing Bryce Harper and then Anthony Rendon has really limited the ceiling of this offense. Howie Kendrick has been banged up and he is more important to the offense this season.
Anibal Sanchez has been a great fourth/fifth starter in the past but this year he has not been playable. His last outing was his best but 3ER over 5 innings is hardly dominant. The Nats have not won any of his starts this season.
