Miami Marlins
Heading into Thursday the Marlins had sunk to .500, even that level would have been considered a little high for this group. They still have a number of players on the injured list but at the same time there is also just not a lot of talent there.
The start of the lineup so far has been Jesus Aguilar, who is leading the team in all of the triple crown categories. Brian Anderson is pushing him in the power categories but like the rest of the team is not making much contact.
Elieser Hernandez has made three starts and been brilliant, mostly. He has only given up runs in one of those starts and is not walking anybody. He is going to give them a chance. Closer Brandon Kintzler has not been automatic.

Washington Nationals
Even though the Marlins are struggling the Nats are still looking up at them in the NL East standings. Atlanta is at the top but they have not really run away from the rest of the division.
Juan Soto continues to show he is one of the best young hitters in the game, hitting over .400 and with power. The obvious thing missing from the lineup this season is the bat of Anthony Rendon. Asdrubal Cabrera is putting forth a good effort but he is not in the same league.
Patrick Corbin has been good, though not as sharp as we was last year. His numbers at Nationals Park are better so that could be a reason to look at him in this start…and taking on the Marlins helps too. Daniel Hudson is one of many closers around the league who needs to be better.
