Miami Marlins
Miami and Tampa Bay went into extra innings for the second game in two nights this week. Miami got the best of Tampa in 10 innings on Monday but the Rays won in 16 on Tuesday.
Both pitching staffs will be light in the finale on Wednesday and the Marlins are counting on Jose Urena to come straight off the DL and eat some innings without much help available behind him.

Naturally, Don Mattingly hasn’t named a starter for this game against the Nats. Sandy Alcantara would have been the one but he was placed on the DL with an infection.
If Urena can’t give Miami five or six innings on Wednesday, their bullpen could be in all sorts of hurt to just begin this series in Washington.
Washington Nationals
Aside from actually snapping the losing streak on the 4th, that’s what Washington fans are hoping for. The Nats have dropped four in a row and seven of their last eight.
It’s still fairly early and this team is still getting healthy and comfortable (especially Daniel Murphy and Adam Eaton), which leads me to believe it has a run left in it. But the deficit is getting too big for it to even matter.

Washington doesn’t have much more room to fall, eight games back in the division. Eaton actually has been producing but Murphy is hitting just .190. He was supposed to provide a spark upon his return and nothing of the sort has transpired.
