Los Angeles Dodgers
Now that the three top teams in the NL West are essentially even it will be interesting to see if any team can take off down the stretch. The Dodgers made the big move to get Manny Machado but are just 3-3 since. More moves could be coming but there is no doubt he makes them better.

Clayton Kershaw was not himself in the first half. If he can pick up and get back to the levels we expect that will be as valuable as any acquisition. July was his best month so perhaps his health is finally good enough for him to cut loose. His career splits indicate we should not be worrying.
Atlanta Braves
The Braves are ahead of schedule and a team that everyone is wondering whether they will go for it or not. They have some really nice young pieces but without reinforcements catching Philly or grabbing a Wild Card is going to be tough. They also could use a spark, their form in July has not been good.

Mike Foltynewicz has been one of the surprise performers that has helped Atlanta be in the race to this point – his ERA is only a smidge higher than Kershaw’s at 2.87. But while Kershaw has he pedigree and seems to be finding his level Folty has been getting hit hard of late. It seems like the regression bug is buzzing.
