NL West action sees the Dodgers beginning a series with the Diamondbacks on Monday evening from Chase Field in Arizona.
Tyler Anderson will be going up against Ryne Nelson in this one.
Los Angeles is a very heavy favorite on the road in this divisional matchup. There really has not been a ton of movement from the opening total of 9 runs.
Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers continued their dominance over the Padres over the weekend as they were able to take two of three from their in-state rival despite dropping the first game of the series by a score of 5-4.
No matter who San Diego acquires to improve their team, the one thing that has remained constant for a very long time now is they simply are not as good as the Dodgers and that was once again put on display this past weekend.
Los Angeles was able to really get the bats going in the final two games of the series as they scored a combined 19 runs in those contests.
On Sunday, they were able to score 11 runs and record 12 hits to cap off a strong series for them. A lot of different people stepped up on offense, but it was Justin Turner who really stood out in the finale with two runs, two hits, and five RBI.
The Dodgers did a good job of doing enough against starter Joe Musgrove last time out and they were able to do even more damage against their bullpen.
Andrew Heaney once again delivered for this crew with five innings of one-run ball and six strikeouts. He might not have been all that effective with his prior teams, but it is hard not to like what he has done with LA thus far.
As they go to the desert, this series is another good chance for the Dodgers to keep on playing great baseball and improve on their 47-25 record on the road.
Tyler Anderson gets the nod in the first game and that should make his team happy because more times than not, he has pitched quite well and he really has been one of the more reliable arms in the sport this season.
Arizona Diamondbacks
The Diamondbacks did cap off their series with the Rockies with a 12-6 victory, but it still was not a good series for them with two losses in three games.
They certainly had a very winnable series with Colorado, but they just did not execute at the level they needed to in order to win the series which has to be pretty frustrating because the team they were facing is really not that great.
What we saw from Arizona in their most recent series is what we have seen for a majority of this season. For the most part, this has been an inconsistent team which is why you see them in the position they are in.
In the final game of the series, there were some encouraging things that took place and that mainly come from the offense who produced 12 runs and 15 hits.
This group had a very good approach at the plate and lots of different guys stepped up which is always what a team wants to see.
Jake McCarthy kept up his strong hitting on Sunday with four hits and three RBI while Josh Rojas also added in two hits and three RBI.
Zac Gallen did allow three runs on Sunday which seemed like a foreign concept given how well he has looked for a while now, but he was still able to go six innings and punch out 11 batters.
Ryne Nelson will open things up for the Snakes on Monday and he will be in for quite a challenge when he has to face the best team in the sport with one of the most dangerous lineups.

The Dodgers just took two of three from a solid Padres team and it would not shock me if they kept up that strong play on Monday.
Nelson is certainly a nice prospect, but I just have a hard time seeing him be able to consistently contain this lineup. As LA has done all year long, they will expose pitchers who make mistakes.
Anderson will not be facing off with an easy offense, but I trust him and their bullpen more than the batters for Arizona in this spot. Sure, they could get a few runs, but I do not see that mattering all that much in the end.
In this spot, I like the Dodgers laying the runs on the road.
