Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers have pretty much started off the season the way a lot of people thought they would. It is very likely that they will have similar results to what they did a season ago and maybe even do better.
As I look at their roster, it is hard to find all that many holes or flaws in it. They have a very good and powerful lineup, strong starting pitching, and a deep bullpen. Typically, that adds up to a lot of winning.
This team comes into this game with a record of 12-5 and they trail the Giants by 0.5 games. As a baseball fan, it would be fun to watch those two teams duel it out this season.
After blanking the D-Backs in the opener, they were not able to get the job done on Tuesday and lost by a score of 5-3. Those are kinds of losses that cannot make Dave Roberts thrilled but he certainly will not dwell on it.
To start off the season, LA has taken care of some weaker teams but has also beaten some better ones. No matter who they go up against, you always feel like they have a chance with the team they put out there.
In the loss on Tuesday, I thought the offense for the Dodgers could have done a better job against Zach Davies. For the most part, he was effective against them and so was the Arizona bullpen.
Tony Gonsolin went in game 2 and lasted 4 innings while allowing 2 earned runs and he struck out 5 batters. You would have liked to have seen him give his team more length but he got the job done when he was out there.
The Dodgers will turn to Julio Urias in the rubber match on Wednesday afternoon. In 2022, he is 1-1 with an ERA of 3.00.
Arizona Diamondbacks
It certainly has not been a great start to the season for the Diamondbacks and that really should not surprise anyone. It was understood that it was going to be another long and painful season for this group.
Quite frankly, I am actually a bit surprised they even have 7 wins through their first 18 games. If they were 3-15 right now I would not think twice about it.
This is a team that does have a few nice players but they are certainly not a stacked team. When it comes to pitching and offense, they simply do not have the firepower that other teams do and that is going to make it very hard for them to be all that relevant.
As we all know, the NL West is a loaded division and the D-Backs found that out big time last year. They were essentially the West’s version of the Orioles as a lot of the top teams just beat up on them and took their matchup as the get-right series.
Even though it was just one game in April, it was nice to see them beat their divisional rival and the best team in their division on Tuesday. If they can win again on Wednesday maybe that will be something that will build confidence for them.
Zach Davies went 4 innings and allowed 3 earned runs in their last win. He was mostly able to keep the LA hitters off balance and was able to induce weak contact.
Zac Gallen will be getting the start in this game here. He has not always enjoyed facing Los Angeles so we shall see what happens here.
I think a lot of people were surprised that Arizona took one game in this series and they would be even more surprised if they won the series.

I look for Urias to be sharp in this one and I think Gallen will have some trouble navigating through this powerful lineup.
For me, I do not see the Snakes scoring all that many runs and I see the opposite happening for LA.
