Los Angeles Angels
Without a doubt, there is a lot of hype with this Angels team for the 2022 season. A lot of people are pretty high on them.
There is no question that they have talent on their roster, but they still have to show me they can be relevant again.
Part of me would not be surprised if they were to go 84-78. They seem to get to a point and fizzle out. We shall see what this year brings.
One thing that is definitely certain is the fact that the division they play in is going to be tough to win. Seattle and Houston are two legit teams and I would put both of them over the Halos at the moment.
This series really is one that LA should be able to take care of their business in. They cannot take Texas lightly, but they are the better club and should show it.
Los Angeles swept the Miami Marlins in a 2 game set on Monday and Tuesday. In those games, they outscored their opponent by a 10-5 margin.
In their last victory, Patrick Sandoval went 4 innings, did not allow an earned run, and struck out batters. He did not give his team great length, but there is no question that he was effective when he was out there.
Shohei Ohtani will look to build off of his last start when he takes on the Rangers on Thursday evening.
Texas Rangers
At the moment, the Rangers are sort of a weird team to me. I do not know quite what to make from them.
In terms of talent, they are certainly better than they were a year ago, but I am not sure how far that will get them in the grand scheme of things.
Adding guys like Marcus Semien and Corey Seager is a good start for them. Those two guys will help improve their offense, which is an area where the team could use a lot of work.
Still, a big question mark remains with their pitching. That area of their game is certainly not a strength, which means they are really going to have to rely upon their offense an awful lot.
They just lost both games to the Colorado Rockies and did not look good in the series.
Colorado outscored them 10-5 in the two games and it was clear that they were the team who was better and sharper out there.
On Tuesday, the Rockies beat them by a score of 4-1. Simply put, the offense was not good enough for Texas in that one in order to get the win.
Martin Perez went 4 innings and allowed 3 earned runs in their last game. For the most part, pitching was not the issue in that, but the bats certainly were.

I feel that the Angels will take care of their business against Dunning and co. in this one.
There is no question that there is some juice here, but it is a reasonable price for me.
