Los Angeles Angels
Mike Trout is not having a great year, by his standards, and neither is the team. They are still waiting to get Justin Upton into the lineup and only recently got Shohei Otani back in the fold. This team has to do it with offense because there is just not that much pitching. Brian Goodwin is making the most of his unexpected playing time by hitting .320 but it is not nearly enough.

There is no starter listed for this game and that is never a good sign, especially for the Angels who are 28th in quality starts as a team. The Angels bullpen has been pretty good though, 9th in WAR, but I worry about the team until the offense really starts clicking.
Detroit Tigers
Surprisingly it has been the pitching of the Tigers that has prevented them from being an embarrassment this season. They are 29th in scoring and there are not any real signs that is likely to change anytime soon. They do not have a move to make other than to hope guys get healthy and Miggy shows signs of life. He has only one homer as this is being written.

Tyson Ross looked like a good pickup in the offseason but he has not had much success in his short time in the American League. In his last start he was hammered by the Royals and that is definitely not a good look for any pitcher this season. The Tigers bullpen is nothing special so if you don’t like Ross against the Angels lineup than you have to take a pass.
