The Dodgers and Rockies will be ending their series on Sunday afternoon from Coors Field.
Tony Gonsolin will be opposed by German Marquez in this ball game.
LA is laying a pretty heavy price on the road with the total set at 11.5. It did open at 12.5 and has moved down a run.
LA Dodgers
The Dodgers were able to take the first two games of this series, but then dropped the third one on Saturday by a score of 5-3.
Clayton Kershaw got the ball on Saturday and he did not exactly have his best stuff in the loss. The lefty alllowed five runs total on Saturday and three of them were earned in 5.1 innings.
It is not to say that the veteran pitched poorly, but his opponent was still able to record eight hits and he did not miss a lot of bats. That is the second time this season he has not been particularly sharp in Denver.
After he departed, the bullpen did what they had to do, but that did not matter when all was said and done. The combo of Caleb Ferguson, Jake Reed, and Phil Bickord only allowed two hits and did not allow an earned run.
Offensively, things did not go great for the Dodgers in this one. They were able to get seven hits, but it really did not lead to all that much.
Trea Turner did homer in this one and kept his strong hitting. He now has a hitting streak that has reached 17 games.
This club was really not able to do a whole lot against Kyle Freeland and the bullpen for Colorado. Of course, a lineup like can this can score a lot of runs in a little amount of time, but that did not happen on Saturday.
Tony Gonsolin will be getting the ball in the last game of this series and he did finally record a loss in his last start against the Nationals. In that game, the righty went 6 innings while allowing 4 earned runs. He will look to get back on track in this one and give his team the series win.
Colorado Rockies
Some people might not have saw it coming, but Kyle Freeland pitched better than Clayton Kershaw on Saturday and the Rockies picked up a nice win over their divisional rival.
Freeland was very sharp in his previous start against the Brewers and he was able to follow that up in this one. The lefty went six innings while allowing three earned runs on six hits. Against that kind of lineup, he will take that kind of outing.
Something that Freeland was able to do quite well in this game was limit the damage. There were some times where the Dodgers were threatening, but it never led to that big offensive explosion.
Colorado was able to take the lead in the first inning when Max Muncy had an error that put them up 2-1. It was good for them to start off that way after the Dodgers scored a run in the first inning.
A big inning for them was the 6th where the Rockies were able to get three runs and once again take the lead. They went into the inning down 3-2 and left the inning up 5-3 which ended up being the final score.
After not looking so great in the first two games of this series, the Rockies just had to play better in at least one of these games. Now, they will have to do it again and get the split.
Even though they clearly are not as good of a team as the Dodgers, they have had some success against them this season. I think there were many that thought it would be a very one sided season series, but that has not been the case so far.
German Marquez will be getting the start on Sunday and he is a guy who has been pretty disappointing so far. The expectations were fairly high for him in 2022, but he just has not been able to consistently get it done and he will be looking to take down a tough lineup in the finale.

Even after looking flat on Saturday, I like the Dodgers and feel like they will get back to their ways on Sunday.
Colorado might have looked good in their previous one, but I do not see them keeping it up for the final game of the series. They are going to be faced with a lot of challenges and I just do not see them being ready to handle them.
Los Angeles has the clear advantage in terms of starting pitcher and I look for Gonsolin to bounce back after not having his top stuff last time out. Also, Marquez has been more than hittable in 2022 and that ought to play well for the Dodgers here.
It has not gotten to -200 yet, so I still like the Dodgers on the Moneyline.
