The Dodgers will be in Chicago to take on the White Sox for game 2 of their series.
Tony Gonsolin will be opposed by Johnny Cueto in this one.
LA is a heavy favorite on the road with the total sitting at 8.5.
LA Dodgers
If you look at just the wins and losses, the Dodgers have had a solid season but there is no question there have been some bumps along the way.
One theme that is concerning with this team is playing down to competition. Whether it is losing to the Diamondbacks, Pirates, Nationals, and now the Sox, it is not a good pattern.
I understand that no matter how a good team is, they will lose to teams they should beat. What should upset a fan of this team more than anything in the opener with the White Sox is the fact they got totally blanked.
The Sox have some decent arms but they really should not be shutting out one of the best offenses in the sport. If you are Los Angeles, it is not something to panic over but it is something to take note of.
After losing the final two games with the Mets and the opener with the White Sox, this squad has now lost three games in a row. It is not something that happens to them a lot but it does have to get fixed on Wednesday evening.
Despite the offense not showing up at all, Mitch White pitched very well in their loss in game 1. He went 5 innings, did not allow an earned run, and struck out 5 batters. He gave his team a chance to win but had nothing to show for it.
However, the bullpen did not do its job and ruined a strong outing. Phil Bickford allowed 2 earned runs and so did David Price. The pen is still a strength of the Dodgers but it has been shaky of late.
Tony Gonsolin will look to get his team back on track in the 2nd game. He has been very impressive this season, as he holds a record of 6-0 and an ERA of 1.59.
Chicago White Sox
The White Sox continue to be a weird team this season. Depending on the game, you never truly know what to expect from them.
There have been times where they have played poorly against teams they should beat but there have also been times where they have looked well against teams they are better than.
Something that has been apparent with Chicago during the 2022 season is their inconsistent play. Before they can start playing well at a more consistent clip, it is hard to really trust them to do that much.
Given the fact that the division they play in is not very strong, it is still reasonable to expect them to finish 1st when all is said and done. I would not necessarily bank on it but it is not crazy to think.
Right now, the Chi Sox hold a record of 26-27 and trail the Twins by 4 games. If they can get back to.500 with a win on Wednesday, then that is at least something they can build on.
In their game 1 victory, it was nothing fancy but they did what they had to do. Chicago got very strong pitching and got enough on offense to get the job done.
Michael Kopech tossed 6 innings, allowed just 1 hit, and punched out 8 batters in the game 1 victory. That was a very impressive start from him against one of the best offenses in baseball.
Now, Johnny Cueto will look to have similar results when he gets the ball on Wednesday night. He does not have a win at the moment but holds an ERA of 2.92.
MLB Baseball Betting Trends:
- The Dodgers are 10-3 in their last 13 interleague road games vs. a right-handed starter.
- The Dodgers are 39-12 in their last 51 during game 2 of a series.
- The total has gone over in 6 of the White Sox’s last 8 games.
- The White Sox are 3-9 in their last 12 home games vs. a right-handed starter.
LA Dodgers vs. Chicago White Sox MLB Prediction:
The Dodgers did not do what they wanted to do in the first game but this is a good chance for them to get back on track.
Cueto has been solid so far but I do feel LA will be able to get a decent amount of runs between him and their pen.
I also look for Chicago to score at least a few. Gonsolin has been very sharp this season but that bullpen for the Dodgers is vulnerable against the wrong team.
My play is on the over here.
