Los Angeles is laying a decent price on the road in this one. The total opened up at 8.5 and that number has not moved.
LA Dodgers
The Dodgers have played well so far in 2022 and I look for them to only play better as the season gets deeper.
Just because they have been impressive, does not mean they have not had some bumps in the road so far. Of course, there has been more good than bad but they do have some areas to work on.
Throughout the course of a 162-game slate, every team is going to lose to teams they should beat and the Pirates have been that team for the Dodgers this season.
It seems weird to say but Pittsburgh gave this team a lot of trouble in their home park and in LA. The first instinct would be to just shake it off and be better but there is no question that is concerning for the Dodgers
Even with a few hiccups, I have generally liked what I have from this team but they do have to improve in certain places.
To me, the lack of depth toward the end of the rotation is evident and that cannot continue if they want to get back to the World Series. It still could give them a strong regular season but likely not a deep run.
In their past series with the Mets, they saw mixed results. The first two games were good but New York was able to expose their pitching in the final two games, whether it be their starters or their bullpen.
Coming into this series with Chicago, they should certainly feel confident. The offense needs to be locked in because Mitch White has not been great this season and you truly do not know what to expect when he takes the hill.
Chicago White Sox
What we have seen from the White Sox so far is a team that is up and down. Needless to say, they are not playing how they would like to be.
One trait that has defined them is their lack of consistency. It is not that they cannot play well but it is the fact they have had trouble doing it on a regular basis.
When Chicago has faced off with teams that match up well with them, they have often been exposed. They hope that trend does not continue into the Dodgers series but there is no guarantee of that one.
To show how much the Chi Sox have underperformed this season, the Guardians have now leapfrogged them and sit in 2nd place. Simply put, that is not acceptable.
I get that Cleveland only leads them by half a game but to me, there is no excuse for that team to be leading Chicago at right around the 50-game mark. Minnesota leading the division is one thing because they have proven to be a solid ball club this season.
Despite not playing great for most of the season, the Sox did take two of three from the Rays over the weekend, which is certainly a good sign. Now, they will look to build off of that for their next series.
A big key in this Los Angeles series is going to be strong pitching. Given the kind of offensive firepower that the Dodgers feature, weak pitching could result in many large deficits.
Michael Kopech will get the challenge of keeping the Dodgers in check for game 1. He does a record that stands out but does hold an ERA of 2.20.

This play is really not based so much on confidence in white but more so on trust in the offense for the Dodgers. I look for them to get to Kopech and into that pen.
The Moneyline is not too heavy here for me to lay it with LA.
