LA Dodgers
The Dodgers have played some very good baseball this year. What’s new, right?
When you have the talent that team has, there is no excuse to not win at a high level. Given the lineup and their pitchers, they should be able to coast to at least 100 wins.
Even though they are going to continue doing a lot of winning throughout the course of the season, I do not feel it will be an easy task for them to win the NL West. As we know, it is very top-heavy in that division and the Padres and Giants are more than capable.
Based on the full 162, if I had to pick right now, I would say Los Angeles would win it but I could see it being very close. Those head-to-head games between those top teams in the West are really going to mean something.
When you are as good of a team as the Dodgers are, one of the many things you are expected to do is beat up on the bad teams and they have done just in the first two games with the Cubs.
LA blanked Chicago 7-0 in game 1 on Saturday and then beat them 6-2 in game 2. They will look for the sweep on Sunday night.
Clayton Kershaw Delivered a strong outing in the first game and Tyler Anderson did the same in the second one. Granted, they were not facing a very good offense but they did what they had to do.
The ace of the staff, Walker Buehler will get the ball in the finale. He has been excellent so far. He holds a record of 3-1 and an ERA of 2.12.
Chicago Cubs
Unlike their opponent, it has not been a very good start to the year for the Cubs. It is going to be a long season for this group.
The struggles of this team are really not anything all that surprising. It was widely accepted that they were going to have a down year as they are in re-build mode.
When Chicago had players on their team such as Baez, Rizzo, and Bryant, it was a much different story because they were a true threat in the NL. Now, they are just another team and it could be that way for a while.
Even though this club has not done a whole ton of winning this season, that does not mean they are devoid of talent. They have some players with potential and guys in their pipeline that could definitely impact their team. They are certainly in the “trust the process” mode right about now.
In the current construction of the MLB, if a team does not go out there and spend a lot of money to get some of the top players to win, it is not all that likely that team is going to do a helluva lot. Sure, not every team has to have the payroll of the Mets or Dodgers, but being able to have stars on your team is needed in order to get titles.
The Cubs will look to take at least one game from the Dodgers in this series but that is going to be very hard to do. They did not play a very inspiring brand of baseball in the first two matchups and there really are not too many reasons to believe that will be different on Sunday night.
The pitching has not stepped up for them in this series and the offense just has gone to sleep. When you combine those two things, it is pretty hard to win ball games.
Marcus Stroman will look to get his team a team win here but he has not been very good so far. He is 1-3 with an ERA of 5.13.

The Dodgers have been rolling lately and I feel that will continue here. I can see them being too much for Chicago to handle here.
Buehler is clearly the better pitcher here and he should be able to navigate through that the Cubs lineup with relative ease. I would be surprised if he is unable to do so.
Stroman might be able to keep his team in the game for a bit but he has going to have his hands full with that LA offense. Whether they get to him or the bullpen, I expect the Dodgers to do some damage on offense and take control.
