MLB Baseball Gambling Total: O/U: 8.5
The Royals and Twins will begin a series from Target Field on Monday evening.
Kris Bubic and Joe Ryan are the opposing hurlers in this one.
Minnesota is a very big favorite at home in this one which is expected given who they are playing. I have not seen too much movement from the opening total of 8.5.
Kansas City Royals
The Royals did not look good at all in their first two games with the Dodgers, but they looked a lot better on Sunday and were able to pull off the 4-0 victory over the best team in baseball.
Just looking at the two teams, it did not seem all that likely these guys would shut out a team as good as Los Angeles, but they got very good pitching and were able to do enough on offense to make it work.
It all started with Brady Singer who looked excellent in their last win. He was able to really mix it up against an incredibly tough lineup.
The right-hander ended up going six scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and punching out seven batters. Although consistency has been an issue for him throughout his career, that outing right there shows what he is capable of when he is really on his game.
When he left the game, the relievers did what they needed to do as Amir Garrett, Dylan Coleman, and Scott Barlow combined to go three innings without allowing a run.
Kansas City did not do anything crazy on offense in the finale, but they still managed to get some production. Vinnie Pasquantino had three hits and two RBI on the day and Salvado Perez and Kyle Isbel both brought in a run as well.
Despite their last series ending on a high note, the Dodgers were still able to expose plenty of their flaws in those games and the Royals will look to make some adjustments with the Twins. Once again, it will be challenging when they go up against a team that is quite talented.
Kris Bubic will get the ball to open things up with Minnesota and he has seen lots of different results this season. There have been times where he put forth strong outings, but he has also had plenty of ones where he simply has not been effective and a lot of his stats will reflect that.
Minnesota Twins
The Twins had a chance to really do some damage over the weekend with the Angels but they did not do so and ended up losing two of three games in the series.
In the 4–2 loss on Sunday, they had chances to get it done, but just were not able to really come through and deliver when they had to in order to get the victory.
Starter Chris Archer went four innings and allowed three earned runs and struck out five batters in their last loss. He was effective at times out there but once again failed to give them great length in the game which has been a consistent theme so far in 2022.
Minnesota does have a very talented offense but they did not do much in this game or the whole series, really. The hope is they would take advantage of some weaker pitching, but that just was not the case.
While the Twins kept up their struggles, the Guardians continued to play quite well and they currently have a 2.5-game lead in the AL Central.
Just a little bit ago, that statement did not seem all that likely, but Cleveland has been a very impressive team this season and they are playing better than people thought. Of course, it does not guarantee they will win the division, but the idea of it happening is a very real possibility.
Starting on Monday, this Twins team will have another opportunity to face off with a team they are a lot better than and it is imperative that they take advantage of that. Given where they are in the season, each and every game is so important, and dropping some to this team could really hurt them in the end.
Joe Ryan will start things off in this series and this kid has been quite good this season but is not coming off a particularly strong outing where he got hit very hard against the Dodgers. He will look to clean that up against a capable offense but still not a great one.
MLB Baseball Betting Trends:
- The Royals are 2-8 in their last 10 road games.
- The Royals are 1-6 in their last 7 games when their opponent scores 2 runs or less in their previous game.
- The Twins are 20-7 in their last 27 Monday games.
- The Twins are 5-2 in their last 7 games vs. a team with a losing record.
Kansas City Royals vs. Minnesota Twins MLB Prediction:
Their last series did not go how they wished, but I see this as a good spot for the Twins to respond.
Bubic has surprised me at times this season and done well against good lineups, but I do not see that here. He is really going to be in for a big challenge and I just have a hard time seeing him do all that well with this offense.
In his career thus far, Ryan has proven to be very impressive, and although he got roughed up last time out, I look for him to be much better against KC.
If you shop around, you can still find a Twins Moneyline that is still relatively reasonable. I like this number until it gets to -200.
