The Royals will be taking on the Guardians from Progressive Field on Tuesday evening.
Cleveland is laying a short price at home with the total set at 9.5. That number began at 8.5 and has since moved up.
Daniel Lynch will be opposed by Cal Quantrill in this one.
Kansas City Royals
The Royals have really not been a good team at all this season. From the beginning of the season until now, it has been a lot of losing for them.
Realistically, it was hard to expect them to be all that relevant this season. Unless they went out there and surprised an awful lot of people, it was fair to assume they would be one of the worst teams in the league.
At the present time, Kansas City is just a team that is not very talented and it shows on the field. When they face off with teams that are just decent, their flaws will get exposed. When they play top-tier teams, that will even be magnified.
Fans would love to hope that the team would go out there and spend some money to bring in better players but they should not get their hopes up. This club is not exactly known for opening the wallet and I do not see that changing for the time being.
A common line that the Royals try and sell people is that they have players in their system that are developing and will eventually be ready. All of that is good but as we know, it is about the people on the field today that can impact the game and the answer is they do not have enough of those.
When it comes to areas in which they could improve, there is a whole list. Their pitching is not very good, the lineup is average at best, and I am not sold on their manager. When all of those things are going against you, it is pretty hard to win a lot.
KC started off the series with the Guardians just as expected with a 7-3 loss. They will look for different results against their divisional rival on Tuesday.
Jonathan Heasley went 6 innings and allowed 3 earned runs in their loss on Monday. After he left, the bullpen did not do its job and the offense was not able to do much. Daniel Lynch will now get the ball and he is currently 2-3 with an ERA of 3.92.
Cleveland Guardians
Similar to their opponent, the Guardians have not been anything all that special. There has not been a whole lot of positivity so far for them.
One of the biggest issues that have been put on display with this ball club is their inability to play consistently well. They have shown glimpses of being good but that has not come on a regular enough basis.
When you look at this team and see the up-and-down play, it really is not surprising. They are not so bad to the point where they are a bottom feeder but they are not good enough to the point where they string together multiple wins in a row with regularity.
Cleveland certainly has individuals on this team they can build around for the future but they need more. They do not stack up to some of the top teams in terms of talent and that is very clear when you watch them play.
As we all know, this is a team that is not a big market and does not routinely spend a lot of money on players. Based on that, it would not surprise me if you do not see any crazy changes with their roster even though it is clear there ought to be.
With the White Sox not having the best season ever, it is possible this group could climb up to 2nd place in the Central behind the Twins but I would not count on it. Even in a division that is not great, I still find it unlikely that this team will be all that relevant by the time the season is over.
Zach Plesac delivered a strong outing in their win on Monday, as he went 6 innings and allowed just 1 earned run. He has been a bit shaky this season so it was certainly good to see him put forth that kind of performance.
Cleveland will now turn to Cal Quantrill and although the record is not great he does have a respectable ERA of 3.42. He certainly will be looking for some run support in this one.

Kansas City Royals vs. Cleveland Guardians MLB Prediction:
Cleveland started off the series how they would have liked and I see them keeping that up. They are not a great team but this is still a club they should be able to do damage against.
Although Lynch has been solid this season, I do not have a ton of confidence in him being to keep this lineup in check and I have even less confidence when the bullpen comes in.
Since being inserted into the rotation, Quantrill has shown the ability to turn in quality starts more times than not. I am not looking for a gem out of him here today but I expect him to be effective against this KC offense.
I like the Tribe on the ML.
