The Royals and White Sox will be ending their series on Wednesday afternoon from Guaranteed Rate Field.
Brady Singer and Lance Lynn are the expected starting pitchers in this contest.
Chicago is a favorite in this one, but I would not call it anything heavy. So far, there has not been a lot of movement from the opening total of 8.5.
Kansas City Royals
The Royals were able to take the opener of the series on Monday but did not look good on Tuesday in the 9-2 loss.
A key person that got traded on Tuesday was Whit Merrifield, who will now be a part of the Blue Jays. That will be a little different to see him in a uniform other than KC.
In the second game of the series, these guys did not do anything all that well and that started with the pitching which has given them trouble throughout the course of the season.
Brad Keller went 5.2 innings while giving up thirteen hits and eight earned runs. Those are the kinds of outings that just bury a team.
As far as the offense goes for Kansas City, they did not have too many answers for Lucas Giolito or the bullpen for Chicago. In total, they were able to get seven hits, but that did not amount to much.
After their last loss, the Royals now sit with a record of 41-63 and they are still in the basement of the AL Central. It will be between them and the Tigers to see who is in last place by the end of the year.
They will definitely have a chance at getting the series win with Brady Singer on the mound who has been one of the few bright spots on this team.
The right-hander is coming off a very good game against the Yankees where he went seven innings and did not allow a run while striking out 10 batters. He will once again be in for a challenge when he has to face this tough offense.
Chicago White Sox
The White Sox did acquire Jake Diekman from the Red Sox during the deadline and that was it. There were plenty of folks that were hoping to see some big splashes, but that did not happen.
This is a club that has been wildly inconsistent during this season and they are going to have to figure it out with the pieces they have right now. I feel they can be a solid team as presently constituted, but there is no doubt they could have used some additions to bolster their roster.
After dropping a close one to the Royals in the opener, the Sox got back to their winning ways in the second game and did just what they needed to do against a team that is just not very good.
Overall, I thought the last game Chicago played was a balanced one and they are going to have to repeat that and go for the series win in the finale.
Lucas Giolito, who had been struggling prior, was able to put forth a really strong outing on Tuesday and that is something his team really needed.
The righty was able to go five innings while allowing five hits and two earned runs. He also was able to record seven strikeouts in the effort. After he left, the bullpen was very effective and they allowed just two hits and no earned runs.
The offense was able to get to Brad Keller early and often and got contributions from lots of different people. Tim Anderson, Andrew Vaughn, Eloy Jimenez, Jose Abreu, and Josh Harrison were all able to pick up multiple hits in the offensive frenzy. It is certainly possible, but it will be a lot trickier to do so when they have to face off with Singer in the last game.
Chicago will be turning to Lance Lynn in this one and he just has not been all that great this season. A lot was expected out of him for this season, but he really has not done much to impress people. Sometimes the record and ERA of a pitcher are not totally reflective of who they have been, but I feel 1-4 and 6.42 sum up what he has done in 2022.
MLB Baseball Betting Trends:
- The Royals are 22-46 in their last 68 road games vs. a right-handed starter.
- The Royals are 16-34 in their last 50 games vs. a team with a winning record.
- The White Sox are 6-1 in their last 7 during game 3 of a series.
- The White Sox are 42-15 in their last 57 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400.
Kansas City Royals vs. Chicago White Sox MLB Prediction:
The Sox were dominant in the second game of this series, but I do not see this one being as one-sided.
Singer will have his hands full here, but I do feel he can be effective. It would surprise me if got hit around as much as Keller did before.
Lynn, who clearly is not the same guy this season, does not have to be great in this spot. Even if he is not totally locked in, I feel he can be solid against a pretty bad offense and lead his team to the win.
Give me the White Sox laying the $1.50 at home.
