Kansas City Royals
2022 has not started off the way the Royals would have liked. They have really not looked all that great and there is no guarantee that it is going to get all that better as the season goes on.
The reality is, that this team has not been all that relevant in a while and it does not seem as if that is going to change in the near future. They made it to the World Series two years in a row and there has not been all that much positivity to report with them since then.
I get that they have some young talent on the roster and some guys in the pipeline but that is not always the answer for a team to have success. There are a lot of factors that you have to look at when determining if a team can put out a representative team from a year to a year and I just do not feel they have the pieces to do so.
One advantage they do have is the division they play in. If they can build their team through their young talent and also acquire guys who are proven veterans, there is reason to feel they could take the Central in the future because that division is not as competitive as some other ones out there.
The Royals will look to get back on track here when they face the O’s on the road. It should be a get-right series for them but you never know with this team.
Kansas City lost two games of three from the St. Louis Cardinals this week. With the exception of their Game 2 win on Tuesday, they did not look very good in that series and looked pretty lifeless.
Kris Bubic lasted just 0.1 innings and allowed 4 earned runs in the finale loss to the Cards. The bullpen did not do much better in the 10-0 route.
Daniel Lynch will get the nod on Saturday evening and he will look to get his team started in the right direction. He is currently 2-1 with an ERA of 3.86.
Baltimore Orioles
By no means have the Orioles been very good this season but they have been a little better than I thought. Given the kind of performances they have turned in the last multiple seasons, it is not unrealistic to feel they would only have about five wins right now.
In all likelihood, it will still turn out to be a big down year for Baltimore. They just do not have the necessary pieces at the moment to be all that competitive of a team, especially given the division they play in.
It is possible they could get better marginally this year but I have a hard time believing that it is going to be anything off the charts. A big accomplishment for them in 2022 would be to not lose 100 games or more.
Coming into this game, the Birds have a record of 10-16 and are in 4th place in the AL East. I do not think many folks had them having the same record as the Red Sox 26 games through the season
With teams such as the Yankees, Blue Jays, and Rays in this division, it is going to be very hard for this team to be all that relevant in the years to come. There was a time when this team was a legit threat in AL but it seems like those days are long gone.
If they do not address the main issues that have been plaguing the, they will continue to get the same results for years to come. The pitching is just not good enough and when teams struggle in that area, it is very hard to win on a consistent level.
The O’s just split a four-game series with the Minnesota Twins this week. After dropping the first two games, Baltimore was able to take care of business in the last two.
Tyler Wells will be getting the ball in the opener and he will look to be better than he has been so far. He does not have a win at the moment and has an ERA north of 4.
MLB Baseball Betting Trends:
- The Royals are 7-16 in their last 23 Saturday games.
- The Royals are 2-5 in their last 7 during game 1 of a series.
- The Orioles are 17-35 in their last 52 games as a home favorite.
- The Orioles are 24-59 in their last 83 games overall.
Kansas City Royals vs. Baltimore Orioles MLB Prediction:
This is not exactly a matchup between two of the best teams in baseball. It might not make for the prettiest game.
Given the kind of team that the Orioles are, it is really hard for me to trust them here. Yes, the Royals are not some great team, but I feel better backing them in this spot.
Lynch is the better starter here and I think he will show that and be effective. KC might not totally crush Wells but I do feel they can do enough against him to get the win.
