The Royals had won seven out of ten games, since the All-Star Break, coming into Tuesday’s opener in Atlanta. Danny Duffy struck out 11 in six sparkling innings and left with a 2–1 lead before the bullpen took over on Tuesday.
Atlanta Braves
Dallas Keuchel actually one-upped Duffy in the strikeout column on Tuesday, K’ing a dozen in six innings of his own. He gave up three hits but two runs and won’t factor in the decision.
Josh Donaldson has driven in two runs for the Braves and Charlie Culberson delivered a pinch-hit, RBI single. Atlanta still hasn’t brought that tying run in, however; and now it’s down to its final out.
