The Astros will be taking on the Yankees for the second game of their series on Friday evening.
New York is listed as a small favorite here with the total sitting at 7.5. It did open at 8 and has since moved down half a run.
Justin Verlander and Luis Severino are the expected starters in this one.
Houston Astros
The Astros keep on playing a very high level of baseball and there is no question they have been one of the best teams in the league this season.
There might be other teams out there that are more talented than them, but these guys have been able to get a lot of balance this season, which is key for any team. A lot of teams want to do it, but not many are able to.
If Houston can keep on hitting and pitching the way they have been, then I feel it is very reasonable for them to win their division again. Teams like the Angels and Mariners are decent, but there is nobody in the West that is a true threat to them.
These guys are going to be seeing a lot of the Yankees and Mets coming up and they started off the stretch of facing New York teams in a good way.
In the two-game set with the Mets, the Stros were able to get two nice victories. Being able to sweep a team like that is never an easy thing and that was a statement by them.
Something that I liked from them in both games of their past series is the strong pitching. They only allowed New York to score 5 runs and they got strong outings by Jose Urquidy and Luis Garcia.
The Yankees were able to take the first game of the series by a score of 7-6. Houston had their chances to win but did not do enough in order to get it done.
The Astros will be going to their Ace, Justin Verlander on Friday, and he has been amazing this season. After not pitching for some time, he is back to being himself and he really looks like one of the best in the game.
New York Yankees
The Yankees keep on winning games and they still remain the best team in baseball. Unless a lot changes, that will be the case for the remainder of the season.
This is a team that is one pace to win a record number of games and it makes sense when you look at it. Ultimately, I do not feel they will do it, but they are still going to earn plenty of victories and likely win their division.
When a team is having this kind of success, there are many reasons behind it. For them, they have been able to get a lot of different contributions from people all over the field.
The offense, as expected, has been one the best in the sport and is never out of a ball game. When they have Aaron Judge hitting the way he is to go along with other key players, New York has an awfully scary lineup at its disposal.
Also, the pitching, in general, has been very good. It is hard to find too many complaints about either the rotation or the pen and it is a big reason why they are winning so many games.
The Bombers just finished up taking a series from the Rays and that is big for them. It is always big to beat divisional opponents and especially ones that have given them trouble in the past.
Although they looked good in the Tampa series it was not easy. They will once again be challenged when they face off with a dangerous Astros group. Of course, the Yanks would take a split, but with the kind of team they have, they expect to win this series.
Facing Verlander is never an easy thing, but Severino has also been impressive this season. He is starting to show signs of the guy he was before the injury and that is great news for a team that needs him back to his old self.

The Yankees have been playing great all year long and that continued on Friday. If Houston is going to stop them at all, they do have a good chance with their ace on the hill.
Both of these pitchers have been impressive this season, but I trust Verlander more. I look for him to keep up his dominant pitching, even when facing off with this lineup, and lead his team to a win.
Severino can definitely be effective here, but I do feel Houston will get at least a few off of him.
I like the Astros as a small dog on the road.
