The Astros will be in Kansas City for game 2 of their series with the Royals.
Luis Garcia is going for the Astros and it has not been announced who is going for the Royals yet.
Houston is a good size favorite on the road here with the total posted at 9.
Houston Astros
The Astros keep on playing a very high level of baseball. It is certainly fair to say they have been one of the best teams in the sport.
The way in which they are playing is really how people thought they would play. It is not a surprise that Houston seems to be clicking on all cylinders.
Given the kind of roster that they have, it makes sense that they have the record they do. Unless something changes dramatically, I would expect them to keep on winning an awful lot of baseball games.
Coming into this contest, the Stros hold a record of 34-18 and are 1st in the AL West. They have been able to get some separation between them and the Angels, which is clearly a good sign.
What you have seen from this ball club in 2022 is really more of the same from previous seasons. They have been able to get strong pitching and the offense has been quite effective. When those are combined, it makes sense that a team is winning a lot.
As the season gets deeper, I do feel this could use an arm and a bat to get them over the top. I feel what they have now could them to a certain point in the playoffs but it would not get them where they ultimately want to be.
The Astros know this series with the Royals is one they must take advantage of and they did just that on Friday with a 10-3 win. That final score is not too surprising when you look at the difference between those two clubs.
Jose Urquidy looked solid in the game 1 victory. He finished the night going 6 innings, allowing 3 earned runs and striking out 5 batters. Now, Luis Garcia will get the ball and he certainly has the chance to deliver a strong outing against this lineup.
Kansas City Royals
As each game goes by, the Royals look worse and worse. When a team is constructed like that, it makes sense.
The bottom line with this ball club is they are lacking talent and it shows in the way they play. It really does not get a whole lot simpler than that.
When I look at this roster, there are some talented guys here and there but it is not enough. When that is the case for a team, it is hard to realistically expect them to win a lot.
The areas of improvement that are required for Kansas are on both sides of the field. The offense does not do a lot for me and the pitching is certainly lacking.
There is no question they could go out there and at least marginally improve their squad but I do not have a ton of confidence in that. The Royals are not known for spending a lot of money to acquire players so I think you might continue to see them roll out the same guys they have.
We knew that this series with the Astros was going to be a tough one for this team and that was the case on Friday. Houston is simply the deeper and more talented team that presents a lot of issues for KC.
Brady Singer got hit very hard in the game 1 loss, as he went 5 innings and allowed 7 earned runs. After he left, the bullpen certainly did not do their job.
At the time of writing this, there is no official answer as to who the starter will be for Saturday. Whoever it ends up being, is going to have their hands full with this offense.
MLB Baseball Betting Trends:
- The Astros are 5-0 in their last 5 games as a road favorite.
- The Astros are 26-7 in their last 33 games on grass.
- The Royals are 16-36 in their last 52 games.
- The Royals are 1-4 in their last 5 Saturday games.
Houston Astros vs. Kansas City Royals MLB Prediction:
In this one, I just see the Astros keeping up their strong play. I have a hard time seeing them slow down here.
Houston is just more complete and I expect them to show that. Garcia has been solid this season and this is a lineup he can have his way with.
For me, it does not matter who starts for the Royals because I do not have that much confidence in any of them to contain this lineup.
I like the Astros laying the runs on the road here.
