Houston Astros
Houston might not be a perfect team but they look like the best group in the Majors to me. They were roughing up Texas pretty good this weekend (as this is being written) and now are into Detroit for more fun. They might be without Jose Altuve but this group has lots of depth. Nothing is easy but they should not have too much trouble with Detroit.

They haven’t announced a starter yet but this looks like the spot for Brad Peacock. He is coming off his best start of the season – 7IP, 12Ks, 0ER against Kansas City. That is a pretty light lineup but so so is Detroit’s. Houston not only has a great lineup and starting pitching but their bullpen has been as reliable as any in the league.
Detroit Tigers
In a tough bit of scheduling the Tigers were in Minnesota and now have Houston at home. They have been more competitive than I would have expected this season but I do not expect that to last much longer. The offense is second worst in the league and there is no way their pitching holds at its current level. Series like these will reinforce their level.

I think this is the spot for Matt Boyd. Boyd has somehow transformed himself this season into a strikeout machine and it is working. The team is 5-3 in his starts and they might be even better if the bullpen was halfway decent. They have been a disaster this season, especially lately with a ERA over 7 over the past week. They do not inspire confidence. .
