Detroit Tigers
Detroit and Pittsburgh were postponed on Tuesday in what would have been the first game of a three-game set. That postponement hasn’t been scheduled as a make-up yet.
The Tigers look like a team that will lose more than it wins this season. It just split a four-game set with Kansas City, which was off to one of the worst starts in the league.

Detroit just doesn’t have the arms, even with Matthew Boyd’s great start and Michael Fulmer, who is a rock. Fulmer goes in this game, though, which is going to be one that Detroit expects to win every time.
He ought to take advantage when Detroit’s bats are mostly healthy because I’m not so sure they will as the season wears on. They aren’t getting any younger in the middle of the lineup.
Pittsburgh Pirates
Pittsburgh had a bad week last week. It lost two out of three to start against Colorado and then got swept four in a row in Philadelphia.
Despite those six losses in seven games, Pittsburgh carries a winning record into this series, back at home against a bad team, and should get back on track.

Greg Polanco is hitting .197 but five of his 15 hits have gone over the fence. There have been concerns about Polanco’s power after his first couple of seasons in the bigs and if he’s compensating for things now, he won’t stick around for long.
The Pirates sure do need the power, though. Starling Marte and Sean Rodriguez each have three homers, tied for second on the team, and everybody else has either two, one or none. The Bucs can’t go station to station all season.
