The Tigers right-hander will need to be even more efficient if he is going to take down a Yankees lineup that can score at will.

Even after the first series against Baltimore, fans in New York are already annoyed with their ball club. This is because the Yanks lost 2 out of 3 to the Baltimore Orioles. Of course, Baltimore is projected to be one of the worst clubs in all of baseball, so losing 2 out of 3 was not how New York wanted to start their season. Another big development for the Yankees is Giancarlo Stanton was placed on the injured list, so they will need other guys to step up and provide the offense.
The Yankees’ bats did just enough in game one as they put up 3 runs. Now going up against Zimmerman, the Yankees are going to need much more production because if not Zimmerman has shown the ability to shut down teams completely. If New York can get a few knocks early on, they may be able to unload on the Detroit bullpen, who has not been the sharpest through the first week or so.

Coming off the Baltimore series where the pitching allowed 14 runs in three games, the pitching was much better against the Tigers. New York will have their ace back on the mound, Tanaka, who pitched a great game on Opening Day. Look for Tanaka to continue his good start to the season and shut down this Tigers offense.
