Detroit Tigers

Detroit’s starting pitching has stifled the Indians in two games this week now. And in both games, Cleveland grabbed a win late.

The Tigers haven’t blown leads, but the offense has been even worse than Cleveland’s and the bullpen has given up a home run in the eighth inning of both games that ended up being the decisive blows.

Brad Ausmus has to be encouraged by the starting pitching, which was expected to be part of the team’s weakness this season (pitching, in general). It still very well may end up being one, but for now, the starters are doing their job.

Michael Fulmer has a 0.68 ERA in his two starts so far. Based on how things have been going on in Cleveland, he stands a chance to even bring it down.

Cleveland Indians

Cleveland lost a few close games last week so it must feel good to be on the winning end of 2-0 and 2–1 games this week.

Josh Tomlin only went five innings on Tuesday but he didn’t give up a run and five guys combined to throw the last four innings, giving up only one.

Carlos Carrasco goes on Wednesday and then Trevor Bauer in this game on Thursday. Bauer has already looked inconsistent this season. That isn’t likely to change, especially not in April.
