New York Yankees
The Yankees are no longer in a playoff race. They are at the finish line, just waiting for the rest of the competition to reach.
New York beat Baltimore again on Wednesday. It completed the 4-game sweep and means the Yankees will go into next season with a 16-game winning streak against Baltimore. The Yankees won their first game of the season against the Orioles, lost the next two, and didn’t lose again. It’s an unprecedented run for one team against another.

So the Yankees have Baltimore covered but they are going to have to beat Houston to get the pennant, or perhaps Cleveland, which it welcomes in on Thursday.
The general feeling is the pitching can’t contend with Houston’s; nor can it even match up with Cleveland’s. It may be a good thing that the Yankees can mess with things in the final six weeks because they are going to need some arms to come out of the woodwork.
It would also help if Masahiro Tanaka became an ace again. He looked like one the last time out in Toronto, spinning eight three-hit innings. The story of his season has been inconsistency.
