Chicago White Sox
The White Sox have not played terribly this season but they have yet to find their groove. I do not think it is something that should be all that concerning because they will eventually start to play at a more consistent clip.
Given the kind of players that are on this roster and the manager they have, it is very reasonable to expect that these guys have a strong regular season and then make a deep run. If that does not happen, one would have to consider the season a disappointment.
This is a club that certainly has the components of a complete team. They have strong starting pitching, a good bullpen, and a powerful lineup. When you have that kind of combo, good things are bound to happen.
In the early part of the season, Chicago has done a lot of trading wins and losses. At the moment, they hold a record of 6-6 and are in 2nd place in the AL Central.
The Southsiders are coming off of a series in which they got swept by Cleveland in three games. That is disappointing, to say the least for them.
The Guardians outscored them 19-5 in that series. You do not have to know all that much about baseball to know that is not going to get the job done.
The pitching was not very good for this team in their last series. Dallas Keuchel got totally rocked in game 1 and Dylan Cease was not effective in the finale. Going forward, those are the sorts of things that cannot happen.
Chicago will turn to Vince Velasquez in the 2nd game of this series. He is someone that has never been the most consistent so whatever performance he gives should not be all that surprising.
Minnesota Twins
The Twins were thought to be a better team this season but that has not been the case yet. Sure, they can get better as the year goes on but that is not something I would bank on.
Yes, the Carlos Correa acquisition was a huge one and he will give them a boost, but one man is not going to change a team. Remember, Kyle Garlick has been their fourth batter in a few games this season. That should tell someone all they need to know about the direction of a baseball team.
Something tells me that this season is going to be a lot of what happened to them last year. Even if they do get better as the year goes on, I do not feel it will be enough to overcome what was a sloppy beginning to the season.
Coming into this game, the Twinkies have a record of 5-8 and are in 8th place in the AL Central. No matter what division you play in, that is never the kind of start you want to get off to.
Minnesota dropped two games of three from the Royals before facing the Sox. They really should have been able to do more damage against a team like that but that clearly was not the case.
Minnesota was able to win the finale with KC but it was not because of their offense as they won 1-0. Truthfully, they did not do a whole lot at all on offense during that whole series which is a bit concerning.
Joe Ryan went 6 innings and struck out 5 batters in their last victory. Although he does not have a ton of MLB experience, this kid looks like he is going to be something special in this league.
Dylan Bundy will look to build off of a very good start against the Red Sox on Monday. He will once again get a chance to face off with a dangerous lineup.
MLB Baseball Betting Trends:
- The White Sox are 38-13 in their last 51 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400.
- The White Sox are 5-2 in their last 7 during game 2 of a series.
- The Twins are 2-5 in their last 7 home games.
- The Twins are 1-4 in their last 5 Saturday games.
Chicago White Sox vs. Minnesota Twins MLB Prediction:
This game features two pitchers that can be wildly unpredictable. From game to game, you never truly know what to expect.
I do sense a little overreaction in the market on this one with the Twins being this kind of favorite here. This will be no easy task for them at all.
In a spot like this, I like the fact that I am getting runs with a Sox team that is better than their opponent and matches up well with Bundy.
I like Chicago on the run line here.
