Despite 2020 being a condensed season where 60 games are being crammed in, the White Sox have enjoyed some down time after a rain out Monday and an off day Friday.
The well rested Sox will visit Kansas City who has actually looked respectable in a 3-4 start to the season. Even though there will be no fans, this will be the Royals first home game of the season.
Chicago White Sox
The White Sox bring their high-powered offense to Kauffman Stadium. Chicago is a -175 favorite in Friday’s series opener but that’s no sure thing as Rick Renteria’s team was 9-10 vs. Kansas City a year ago.
Is this a new Chicago team though? The White Sox have belted out 10 HRS in six games so far but that hasn’t equated to wins as the Sox dropped series’ to Minnesota and Cleveland to start the season.
Chicago hopes that offseason acquisition Dallas Keuchel can help the team turn around their misfortunes vs. KC from a year ago. The lefty was solid in his first go vs. the Twins, holding that offense to 2 runs while pitching into the 6th.
Kansas City Royals
The Royals look like they might be one of those pesky teams this season, sneaking in a win when they aren’t supposed to. KC’s first two wins of the year came with odds of +236 and +109.
Kansas City was a big -152 favorite vs. Detroit on Thursday and came through with a 5-3 win powered by a three hit night from Jorge Soler. Whit Merrifield has six hits in 12 ABs vs. Keuchel.
It may be tough for the Royals to be in the underdog role on Friday night considering Kris Bubic comes up for his major league debut. KC is high on the prospect, but he hasn’t even pitched in Double-A ball yet.
