The White Sox will be in Detroit to start a series with the Tigers on Monday night.
Lance Lynn and Rony Garcia are the starters in this one.
I did see the total open at 8.5, but a lot of spots have now dipped down to 8.
Chicago White Sox
The White Sox have been a frustrating and disappointing team in the 2022 season so far. There are other ways to describe them, but I really feel those two words are quite accurate for them.
This is a team that had very high expectations heading into the season and they simply have not lived up to them at all and it does not appear as if they are going to turn it around any time soon.
The lack of consistency for Chicago has been a killer for them, but it has been so apparent in the way they play. It has been very tricky for them to string together all that many wins in a row this year.
One area on their team that has really stood out in a bad way this season has been their pitching. Whether it be their starters or their relievers, they have not been good enough in that department and it is costing them games.
A lot of people were high on this pitching staff, but they simply have not been impressive and that has to be a big concern for the front office of this club.
Yes, they do not play in a great division, so it is still possible they could make some noise in the Central, but that does not look likely.
The Sox just lost two of three from the Rangers, where the pitching deficiencies were once again put on display. As a team, they will look for better results when they start a series with their divisional rival in Detroit.
Lance Lynn will be making his debut for the 2022 season, which is certainly a good sign for this club. He was one of the best arms in the sport a year ago and him being back in the mix for Chicago is a big deal for them.
Detroit Tigers
Similar to their opponent, the Tigers have also not been that impressive of a team this season.
The expectations for these guys were certainly not off the charts, but it was expected they could at least be more competitive and be a potential wild card team.
Nobody thought Detroit was going to be some powerhouse this season and that was fine. 2022 was supposed to be a season where you saw some more growth and progress, but that really has not been the case at all.
Sure, I have seen some glimpses of them being at least a decent team, but it has not been shown with enough regularity for me to really trust them.
As you see them play, it is clear they are more talented than they were in past seasons, but it has not exactly made a huge difference in the win column.
Big additions to their team, such as Rodriguez, Baez, Meadows, etc., have not been all that great for them, which has been a huge disappointment.
No, they are not the most talented team in the MLB, but they are also not devoid of good players. They should be playing better than they have been, but it does not look like much will change as we get deeper.
This series with the White Sox is certainly a winnable one for the Tigers, but I would not count on it. Despite Chicago massively underperforming thus far, they are still the better team and will present some issues. It all starts with Rony Garcia, who is 0-1 with an ERA of 4.5.
MLB Baseball Betting Trends:
- The White Sox are 6-1 in their last 7 games as a road favorite.
- The White Sox are 11-4 in their last 15 road games vs. a right-handed starter.
- The Tigers are 5-1 in their last 6 games vs. a team with a losing record.
- The Tigers are 10-4 in their last 14 home games.
Chicago White Sox vs. Detroit Tigers MLB Prediction:
Look, it is clear the Sox need more than just one starter back and healthy, but there is no question Lynn is a big boost for this team.
Although he has not pitched in some time, I do feel he can be sharp here. This is a team that he has experience with and if he has his pitches going, he can certainly keep them in check.
In terms of Garcia, it is hard to know what to expect. He could be slightly effective, but I still feel Chicago will do enough against him and that pen.
The runs are too much for me to lay, but the Moneyline is still a reasonable play for me.
