Chicago White Sox
The White Sox won the first two games in Cleveland this week but the Tribe struck back on Wednesday with a 5–3 win. Shane Bieber continued to pitch well and went into the seventh inning, walking one and striking out six.
Jose Ramirez hit a two-run, walk-off homer in the ninth against Kelvin Herrera, who didn’t start the inning but came on to face Ramirez with two outs.

Herrera came expensive in the offseason — $18 million for two years. So far, he hasn’t lived up to that kind of worth. He’s 0–3 with an ERA approaching 6.00.
The Sox got six innings out of Reynaldo Lopez prior to the disappointing end. Manny Banuelos will try to redeem himself after getting lit up by the Red Sox in Chicago last weekend.
Cleveland Indians
The return of Jason Kipnis has Cleveland’s lineup looking the way it was always supposed to be at the top, at least. Kipnis went 0-for-4 with a walk on Wednesday hitting between Francisco Lindor and Jose Ramirez.

Carlos Carrasco’s strikeouts are up; his walks are down; yet, his hits, homers, and runs allowed are all up. His WHIP isn’t terrible (1.33) but his ERA is 5.60 and he’s giving up over ten hits per nine innings.
Even with all the injuries to Cleveland’s pitching, namely Corey Kluber and Mike Clevinger, there’s still a lot of competition in the rotation. If Carrasco wants to stay in the five-man rotation and pitch in the postseason (assuming Cleveland gets there), he’s going to have to start pulling his weight when Cleveland needs him the most.
