Chicago also doesn’t know what to expect from Yu Darvish. The right-hander threw 7 innings in his last start vs. Cincinnati, but also gave up 12 hits and 6ER in the process. Darvish allowed 5ER to St. Louis in his first start of May.
St. Louis Cardinals
St. Louis also comes into this game having dropped 2 of 3 in series’ vs. Atlanta and Philadelphia. The Cardinals have been held to 4 runs or less in 6 of the last 9 and 3 runs or less in 4 of the last 8.
The Cards’ bats could be able to get going against Darvish although he’s been better on the road (4.18 ERA) compared to home (6.32). Paul Goldschmidt is 0-9 with 7K in his career vs. Darvish however.

MIkolas should be able to give St. Louis a nice long outing on Friday as he’s pitched into the 7th in 3 of his last 4. That being said, the one lone shorter start over that span was a disaster as Texas scored 7ER on 9 hits as Mikolas lasted just 1.1 IP. That was a road start however, and he’s been much better at home.
