The Cubs are in first place in the NL Central but just 12-12 on the road as this is being written. The Brewers are nipping at their heels and it looks like we will have a good race all summer. There is a lot to like about this team from their deep lineup featuring four players who all have 12+ homers, 32+ RBIs and are batting over .280. That makes the middle of the order about as challenging as there is in baseball right now.

Kyle Hendricks is enjoying another strong season on the mound. He is never going to be the most dominant starter on the staff but he gets the job done. I am a little worried about his splits though. He has an ERA under 2 at home and and even 6 on the road. Until Brandon Morrow is back in the fold the Cubs are without their best bullpen arm.
Houston Astros
It is hard not to like what we have seen from this Houston team this season. That being said they are going to be challenged by the fact they will likely be without top bat George Springer for a stint and Jose Altuve has also recently been out. Springer was off to his best start ever. Don’t feel too bad though, they still have the best left side of an infield with Carlos Correia and Alex Bregman and free agent import Michael Brantley is hitting .320.

Wade Miley won 16 games for Arizona in 2012 but hasn’t come close to that since. If he keeps taking the ball and pitching like he has been he could easily eclipse that number this season. His numbers do not leap off the page but he is 3-0 at home with a 2.15 ERA. That is more than playable with the team behind him in the field and at the dish. He might have been a fade in previous years but this year not so much.
