For the third-straight offseason, Michael Wacha signed with a new team in free-agency.
So far, he’s pitched well for the Red Sox, allowing a total of three hits and one run in 9.1 innings pitched over two games.
Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays finished up their stay in Chicago on Wednesday with an 8–2 win over the Cubs.
Opposed to Boston, Tampa won the final two games of its last series after losing the first. It finished its road trip 3–3 against the White Sox and Cubs.
Opposing pitchers appear to be going right after Wander Franco. Tampa Bay’s young shortstop has shown the willingness to take a walk (24 last season, compared to 37 strikeouts), yet he’s worked just one so far this year.
He’s responded by hitting .392 in his first dozen games with a league-leading seven doubles.
Like his opponent in this game, Tampa Bay starting pitcher Corey Kluber has played for four teams in the last four years.
He only pitched an inning for Texas in 2020 but lasted longer for the Yankees last season before an injury cut his season short after 80 innings.
For the Rays, his numbers look similar to Wacha’s through two starts this season.
Kluber has thrown 9.2 innings and allowed a total of seven hits and two runs.
