It’s either a sign of how far the Red Sox have fallen or how great Jacob deGrom is that the Mets are -200 favorites coming into Wednesday’s game. The Mets are just a different team when the 2-time Cy Young winner takes the hill.
The Red Sox look like they’re going to just call this weird season a wash. Boston has started 1-4 and with just 60 games and in a division with the Yankees and Tampa Bay the Sox could be a fade team this year.

Nate Eovaldi is going to have to be great as he’s likely not going to get much run support vs. deGrom. Eovaldi has Boston’s only win of the year as he held Baltimore to 1 ER in 6.0 IP on opening night.
New York Mets
New York is going to be a popular wager on Wednesday night with Jacob deGrom taking the hill. deGrom has won back-to-back Cy Young Awards and is well on his way to three with 5.0 IP of 1-hit ball vs. Atlanta last week.
deGrom has faced the current Red Sox lineup a total of 62 times, limiting them to 12 hits (.194) and 0 HR. Only 4 Red Sox batters have faced deGrom more than 3 ABs which doesn’t bode well for Boston.
New York won’t need much offense to support deGrom. That being said, the Mets have belted out 15 runs the first two games of the season. That was against the #4 and #5 pitchers in Boston’s lineup but New York has momentum.
