Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox made three errors, left a dozen men on-base, and lost another close game to the Astros on Friday, 4–3.
All three of Boston’s runs came on solo homers: another Bogey blast, Xander’s ninth in what may wind up being his most powerful season yet, a shot to center from Jackie Bradley, a most unexpected suspect to end Ryan Pressly’s historic streak (read below), and a ninth-inning line drive into the Crawford Boxes from Christian Vazquez, who came into this season well below league average in 999 career plate appearance but is up around 20 percent better than the compeition so far this year.

The Astros got two great catches in center by Jake Marisnick and a stellar 8-strikeout, 2-walk performance out of Wade Miley but also lost George Springer to a leg injury on the night he returned from a bad back. It looked like he pulled something on a sliding catch attempt in foul territory beyond first base.
Houston Astros
The run charged to Pressly was the first since Boston scored on him in last year’s postseason and the first in the regular season since August 10, after a Major League record 40 scoreless appearances. Pressly’s regular season streak lasted 39 innings, a far cry from Orel Hershisher’s 59 in 1988.

That was in the eighth. Roberto Osuna allowed one to score in the ninth, which sent his ERA skyrocketing toward 1.00. He’s now given up two whole runs in over 22 innings this season.
Will Harris managed to get through the seventh unblemished. He’s an out away from his own personal ERA of 1.00.
