You have to wonder which of these two teams is going to finish in the basement of the AL East at the end of the season.
Boston Red Sox
If Boston is going to catch Baltimore they need to take advantage of series’ against the O’s. They took game one on Friday, scoring 8 runs. They might need to score that many to grab wins the rest of the way from what we have seen this season.
Alex Verdugo was acquired in the David Price deal. L.A. did not have room for him in the lineup but he is a top prospect. He is leading the team in runs, average and stolen bases. He is no Mookie Betts but they have something there.
Zack Godley has been trading good and bad starts all season. Unfortunately for Boston that means he is due for a poor outing. His one road start this season was a disaster, at the Yankees.
Baltimore Orioles
As expected the Orioles have ultimately slid down the standings (and Toronto has risen). The offense has been more sporadic and the pitching has never really been all that great.
Pedro Severino has really hit well this season. The catcher is leading the team with a .324 average, one of several players who have really provided a lot more production than was reasonably expected. Anthony Santander continues to impress
Wade LeBlanc has been a disaster this season. Only one of his starts could even be considered quality this season and the only upside he has is that he generally keeps the ball in the ballpark. That is going to be critical against Boston.

I am inclined to go with the over in any game Boston plays, especially against a team that is going to struggle with run prevention even under the best of circumstances.
