Boston Red Sox
Boston won its first matchup with Baltimore on Friday night, 3–1, behind the strong pitching of Rich Hill and Tanner Houck.
Hill threw four perfect innings before giving up a leadoff single in the fifth, which prompted Alex Cora to make the move to Houck.
Houck went the next three, gave up one hit, three walks, and no runs, striking out four to pick up the win.
Boston got all the offense it would need in the second inning. Christian Arroyo homered to drive in the first two runs.
Jackie Bradley Jr. singled home another to make it 3–0.
Jake Diekman threw a shutdown eighth inning and Matt Strahm earned the save by striking out the final batter of the game after Hansel Robles got in a bit of trouble in the ninth.
Nathan Eovaldi has been great in the early going for Boston but has just one win to show for it.
That came against Detroit more than two weeks ago. Since, he’s faced Toronto twice and allowed a total of three earned runs in 11.2 innings pitched.
He’s struck out 24 and walked just three so far this season but home runs have hurt him. He’s given up at least one in each of his four starts and seven total.
Baltimore Orioles
Despite some of the early trouble, Kyle Bradish pitched well in his Major League debut on Friday night.
He got through six innings and gave up just the three runs in the loss. He likely earned himself another start in Baltimore’s rotation, which has been hampered by injury early.
John Means and Chris Ellis are hurt. Tonight’s likely starter is Spenser Watkins, who went 2–7 in 10 starts last year but has started this season much better.
He’s gone just 13 innings in three starts, including five in each of his last two, but held the opponent to nine hits and four earned runs.
He’s got more walks (7) than strikeouts (5) but, in contrast to Eovaldi, is keeping the ball in the park. He’s given up just two homers so far, both in his last start against Anaheim.

Boston Red Sox vs. Baltimore Orioles MLB Prediction:
Boston has dominated Baltimore over the last several seasons (see above).
Eovaldi has been a big part of that but the strength of his counterpart tonight and Boston’s struggles with the bats this season have me skeptical of paying a large price to back the Red Sox.
Xander Bogaerts has started out hot and Raffy Devers has been good but the rest of Boston’s lineup has come out aggressive but not particularly well.
JD Martinez missed Friday’s game after aggravating an injury that held him out for a game earlier.
His presence in the middle of the lineup makes a difference for Boston and if he’s not in there, all the more reason to fade Boston in this one.
