Baltimore Orioles
Baltimore is sinking to the bottom but as this is being written on Sunday they are still over .500 on the road at 8-7. I am just not sure that is something you want to lean into.
The Orioles, even though they had some early success are definitely a seller at the deadline. They might trade their top hitter, Anthony Santander and top pitcher Alex Cobb. That could hurt the energy around the team even though it is expected.
Tommy Milone has made six starts this season and even though he is just 1-4 he has been quietly decent. His ERA is just 3.99 and he is striking out more than a batter per inning. He struck out 7 Jays in 6 innings a little more than a week ago.
Baltimore’s bullpen has been OK. Other than Mychal Givens you might not recognize the names though.
Toronto Blue Jays
Toronto has to be feeling pretty good. They are a few games clear of .500 heading into Sunday and got a great performance from newly acquired Taijuan Walker on Saturday. Now they just have to get healthy.
Teoscar Hernande refuses to cool down and has 12 homers, among the league leaders. Randall Grichuk is hitting over .300 too so we are kind of in a bizarro world right now.
It has not been announced but Chase Anderson looks like the starter here. He has not been awesome but his arm is getting stronger.
Similar to Baltimore, Toronto has been getting good production from their relievers, even though most are not very recognizable.
