The Orioles will be on the road to take on the Angels on Sunday, April 24th.
Chris Ellis is going for the O’s and Jose Suarez is going for the Angels.
LA is a considerable favorite in this one and the total is currently sitting at 9 runs.
Baltimore Orioles
The Orioles have not played very well this season but we knew that would happen. At this point, it really is not that newsworthy.
It seems weird to say, but I actually thought they would be playing worse right now than they have been. I am exactly surprised they have 6 wins in 15 games.
For multiple years now, this team has been a bottomfeeder in the league and that does not look like it is going to change anytime soon. People can talk all they want about the guys they have in the pipeline, but something still can be said for proven, veteran players on a ball club.
The main issue this team has faced as a whole is their lack of quality pitching both in terms of starters and bullpen. That is only going to be the case more so now with John Means out for the remainder of the season.
Baltimore has been able to take the first two games from the Angels in this series as they have scored five runs in each contest. They will look to go for the sweep on Sunday afternoon.
Spenser Watkins went 5 innings and allowed 2 earned runs in their win on Saturday. He did a solid job navigating through a tricky lineup.
Overall, the pitching has been pretty good for these guys in the first two games as they have held the Halos to 7 runs. On top of that, the offense has also been able to do its job.
The O’s will be turning to Chris Ellis in the finale of the series. At this point, it can be a little hard to predict what kind of outing he will have against this team.
Los Angeles Angels
So far I have liked what I have seen out of the Angels in 2022. There is reason to be optimistic about them for this campaign.
Not that an 8-7 record jumps off the page but I have liked their style of play and think it is something they can carry over as the season gets deeper. In their 15 games played so far, they have already knocked off some solid teams and they will look to keep up.
One thing that cannot make this team happy is dropping the first two games of the series to the Orioles. When you face one of the worst teams in the sport, it is imperative that you take care of business and then some.
I know that you cannot take any games or teams for granted but there really is no excuse to play like this to that team. Even though they will not be able to win the series they can at least get back on the right page if they can figure things out on Sunday.
In the loss on Saturday, Noah Syndergaard went 5.2 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. He gave his team a chance to win but they were not able to get the job done.
The frustrating part about this team so far in the series is their offense. You would think when facing these calibers of pitchers, they would do better but that has not been the case.
Jose Suarez will look to put forth a strong outing on Sunday and he get his team back in the W column. So far, he is 0-1 with an ERA north of 5.
If they were to get swept by Baltimore, it would almost ruin some of the success they had against the Astros in the previous series and against some other teams.
MLB Baseball Betting Trends:
- The Orioles are 20-42 in their last 62 games following a win.
- The Orioles are 19-40 in their last 59 games on grass.
- The Angels are 4-0 in their last 4 games during 3.
- The Angels are 6-2 in their last 8 games as the favorite.
Baltimore Orioles vs. Los Angeles Angels MLB Prediction:
The Orioles have had success in the first two games of the series and it is not crazy to feel they can have it again on Sunday. It is not as if they are facing the ace of the team here.
Chris Ellis will certainly have his hands full here and he will really need to reduce the hard contact. If he can at least compete out there his team should have a chance of winning.
Los Angeles may win the game but I cannot lay it with them here.
I like the Birds getting the runs here.
