The Braves and Mariners will conclude their three-game series on Sunday afternoon from T-Mobile Park.
Jake Odorizzi and Marco Gonzales are the opposing starting pitchers in this ball game.
Atlanta is currently a small favorite on the road in this one. The total opened at 8 and is now up to 8.5.
Atlanta Braves
The Braves were unable to take the second game of this series on Saturday after they won the opener by a score of 6-4 on Friday.
This has not necessarily happened a lot for this team this season, but the offense just went totally quiet last time out as they were only able to get three hits and one run.
On the pitching side of things, Max Fried gave them a chance to win as he fired six innings and allowed just two runs while punching out six batters.
It really does not matter how well you pitch if you are not going to get the proper run support. In this league, it is hard to expect to win games when getting that little from your offense.
Atlanta was able to have some success off of Robbie Ray in the first game, but that was not the case when they had to go against George Kirby who did a really good job of containing them.
It was certainly a frustrating loss for this group, but they have a good opportunity to take care of business and earn the series win against a very challenging opponent on the road.
Of course, the Braves are thinking about where they sit in the NL East as they trail the Mets by just half a game. With just over 20 games remaining, it will be really fun to see how division shakes out in the end.
Getting the start in the finale is Jake Odorizzi and he will get a chance to face off with an opponent that he saw a lot in the NL West when he was a member of the Astros.
Seattle Mariners
With their win on Saturday, the Mariners are 7-3 in their last 10 games and they still remain one of the hottest teams in baseball.
They certainly did not get the result they would have liked in the opener, but they did a nice job of responding and earning the victory in a low-scoring affair.
If a team is going to shut down an offense like the Braves, then they really have to execute properly at a very consistent clip and that is exactly what Seattle did in their last win.
George Kirby started it off with six scoreless innings and then the bullpen came in and was just as effective for the rest of the game.
The combo of Andres Munoz, Erik Swanson, and Paul Sewald went three innings and did not allow a run or a hit. It is hard not to be impressed by what they were able to do there.
There was not a lot that happened on offense, but they did what they had to in order to pull off the win which is all they could have asked for when going against that starter.
Julio Rodriguez picked up two hits and an RBI and the same went for Eugenio Suarez. Sam Haggerty also added a hit and an RBI to the mix.
Marco Gonzales will be on the hill for this one and he is looking to keep up what he did in his last outing against the White Sox where he was quite effective. He will once again get the challenge of facing off with a dangerous lineup.
MLB Baseball Betting Trends:
- The Braves are 4-0 in their last 4 interleague road games vs. a left-handed starter.
- The Braves are 13-3 in their last 16 road games.
- The Mariners are 2-6 in their last 8 interleague road games.
- The Mariners are 4-10 in their last 14 interleague home games vs. a team with a winning record.
Atlanta Braves vs. Seattle Mariners MLB Prediction:
The Braves did not get any offensive production at all on Saturday, but I do feel this is a good opportunity for them to change that.
Atlanta clearly has a lineup that is more than capable and I feel they match up well against this soft-tossing lefty. He has been tough of late but is still very hittable and I do not exactly love his chances facing off with this order.
On the other side, Odorizzi is also going to be in for a challenge here against a team he has seen mixed results against in his career.
It would not shock me if this game is close in the end, but I like the Braves to bounce back on the road as a small favorite.
