Atlanta Braves
The Braves won their two weekend games against Detroit. Thanks to some light play by the Phillies they are really close in the NL East and get a chance to gain more ground against a Pittsburgh team that is not in great form right now. Tyler Austin continues to be a great story with another homer over the weekend. He now has 8 homers in just 17 games.

Max Fried has been the best starter for the Braves this season. Even when he is sharp he doesn’t dominate though so I keep wondering how much you want to rely on him. The overall package with the lineup and bullpen is good but overall Fried does not draw me in as a bettor. He has been much sharper at home too. Maybe Dallas Keuchel joins in the rotation, #justsaying.
Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates have won only three of their last 10. That is despite Josh Bell being one of the hottest hitters in the Majors. He is having a monster year but needs a lot of help. No other player has even 8 homers or 30 RBIs. Gregory Polanco has not looked great since coming back from injury. Rookie Bryan Reynolds has been a nice surprise but they need more from the outfield spots.

Steven Brault has not provided much as a starter this season. The first two outings were nothing special but in his last and most recent start he was effective, at Cincinnati. Taking on Atlanta at home is not going to be easy. I love their high leverage relievers but they need more leads to make those guys more effective.
