Atlanta Braves
Mike Foltynewicz was wild on Monday night, walking four guys in 4.2 innings. He struck out seven with his usual tough to hit stuff but just couldn’t command well enough to stick around long. Atlanta lost that game big.
Nick Markakis hit a three-run homer but that was about it from Atlanta’s offense. Markakis has been a good player for a long time and has continued to hit as he ages in the NL. He’s probably just a year or two away from going back to the AL as a DH, where he will continue to be effective.

Matt Wisler has an ERA of just about 9.00 in 32 innings this season but he was dominant in his last outing against the Mets — an Atlanta win. He gave up two hits and one run in seven innings.
We’ve seen outings like this out of Wisler over the last year-plus but consistency has been an issue. Still, with confidence heading into this start, I’m expecting something positive.
Cincinnati Reds
The Braves have had a good start to their season; Cincinnati has been terrible; and that’s including the results from Monday night’s 10–4 Reds’ win.
The first five batters in Cincinnati’s lineup all drove in at least one run and accounted for nine RBIs in total. Adam Duvall homered and Joey Votto was on base three times in the rare win for Cincy.

It also got a good start from Sal Romano, who threw six quality innings, allowing one run and four hits.
Brandon Finnegan has shown promise in his young career as a member of the Kansas City Royals’ bullpen during their first great postseason run that ended in defeat to the Giants and then as a starter with Cincinnati after getting swapped for Johnny Cueto.
He’s also been injury-prone and downright ineffective in his last two outings, giving up nine earned runs in just barely more than seven innings.
