Atlanta Braves
Thought just .500 Atlanta is in second place in the NL East. Though their long term outlook is probably good I am nt sure I can get behind them this season. Their pitching just seems a little light. The offense can be really good though. They are getting yet another renaissance season from Nick Markakis and their vets are supporting their young guys.

I think this is the spot for Mike Soroka, who has been very impressive in what will be his first full season. He has yet to give up more than run in a start and did not even yield that in his last outing. All of the ratios looks good too, especially the one of zero homers allowed. He has been sharp everywhere this season but especially so on the road so that should not be a worry.
Arizona Diamondbacks
Arizona’s 5th in the Majors offense is powering them to a much better start than I would have expected. I am not sure they can keep it up if the pitching doesn’t balance things out a little more. They are getting power from unlikely sources throughout the lineup. Speedster Jarrod Dyson has three homers and he has never hit more than 5. That is just one example of unsustainable production.

This looks like the spot for Luke Weaver, who has been their best starter this season. Acquired in the Goldy trade all of his ratios have improved and he might eclipse last year’s win total by the All-Star break. He is a perfect 3-0 at home too so there is lots to like about him. The Diamondbacks bullpen has been shaky at times. They have good high leverage guys though.
