I like this Arizona team but I would love to see them add if they can because things are really tight in the NL West right now. Paul Goldschmidt has cooled in July but the pace he had in June was out of this world so cut him some slack he is still hitting .325 this month.

Patrick Corbin has really come on this season. In pretty much every category he is on pace to set career highs and his ability to strike guys out has been impressive – he is at 11K/9 which is among the best in the Majors. He just might be an ace.
San Diego Padres
I don’t see the Padres getting hot and joining the race in the NL West but they will be a factor in who gets the crown. This is a chance to take a bit out of the Diamondbacks at home although their home record is slightly worse than on the road. .

Tyson Ross is scheduled to make the start but that could change as he is involved in a lot of trade talk. If he doesn’t there is not a ton of depth and they have already dealt a couple of relievers so closing out games could be an issue for this team down the stretch.
