Chicago is a pretty good-sized favorite in this one with a total of 7.5 which did begin at 8.
Arizona Diamondbacks
With their 10-5 win on Saturday, the Diamondbacks have now taken the first two games of this series in Chicago which I do think has come to the surprise of people.
The fact that they have won the first couple is not what totally has me shocked, but I have been taken back by the margin. In the first two contests, they have outscored their opponent 17-7.
Offensively, it was a very productive game for Arizona on Saturday as they were able to record 11 hits and got contributions from a lot of different guys.
With all of the hitting that took place, it was Jake McCarthy who stood out with four hits in the game. Also, Carson Kelly and Geraldo Parra were able to record three RBI in the ball game.
Even though this Diamondbacks team is in fourth place in the NL West, they have not exactly played like it so far in these games with the White Sox. It has been pretty clear who the better team is.
Merrill Kelly went 7.1 innings and allowed four runs on five hits with seven strikeouts in their last win. He put forth a solid outing and the bullpen did what they had to do.
I get that Arizona is facing a team that is really struggling, but I have liked what I have seen from them so far. As we know, though, this kind of play has not happened nearly enough for them this season.
Zach Davies will be starting the finale and he will look to keep up what he did against the Royals where he went 5.2 innings and allowed one earned run. He has pitched decently at times this season but only has two wins to show for it.
Chicago White Sox
The struggles for the White Sox continue as they have now lost eight of their last ten games and do not appear to be turning it around anytime soon.
For a while, they were playing some better ball, but that clearly was a thing of the past. Sure, it is possible they could be playing in the postseason, but I would not count on it.
Chicago was really hoping to use this series with the Diamondbacks as an opportunity to get back on track, but they just have not been able to do so and that has to be quite frustrating for them.
It has been well noted all season long that this is a flawed baseball team and a lot of those flaws have been put on display in this series. Even a team like Arizona has the ability to do that to a team that is not playing very well.
The pitching has been a major area of concern for this crew in 2022 and the Snakes have exposed that pretty well. It is hard to argue that when a team has scored 17 runs in 2 games.
Johnny Cueto did not pitch all that effectively in the opener on Friday and neither did Davis Martin in game number two. They will look for different results when Dylan Cease takes the mound in the finale.
In a season that has been mostly disappointing for the Sox, this right-hander has been a bright spot for them and there is no question he has been the ace of the staff this season.
No matter how they do it, the Chi Sox have to figure out a way to salvage at least one win in this series. Given at what point they are in the season, they just have to get victories even though it might not matter all that much in the end.

The White Sox have looked quite bad in the first two games and if they are going to turn it around, it would be in this one.
Chicago clearly has the starting pitcher advantage and I would expect Cease to be strong, but that does not mean I see this being an easy win for them.
Arizona might not have enough to get the win, but it would not surprise if me if this is a close game in end. It is hard for me to lay any kind of runs with the Sox right about now.
