Orioles 2019 Season Preview
Ready to check out our 2019 Baltimore Orioles predictions? No team in the modern era has even fallen further behind in its division than the Orioles did by the end of last season. Baltimore won just 47 games and finished 61 games behind the eventual World Series Champion Boston Red Sox.
MLB Orioles Predictions & Handicapping Insight
Did the Orioles hit rock-bottom in 2018? Some think not. And Baltimore is set to again be one of the worst teams, not just in the current league, but in history with a rebuild that is really just getting started.
2019 MLB Team Previews – Baltimore Orioles
- Orioles Win Total 59.5
- Orioles American League East Odds 250/1
- Orioles American League Odds 500/1
- Orioles World Series Odds 1000/1
Key Additions:
- None
Baltimore didn’t add anybody who is going to offer much value to the big league club this season. Nate Karns came over to join the starting rotation but he’s replacement level, at best.

On the other hand, Adam Jones departs after 11 seasons in Baltimore that included five All-Star appearances. He didn’t get offered anything in free agency until Arizona stepped up to offer him 1-year and $4 million.
Key Losses:
- Adam Jones
2019 Baltimore Orioles Predictions: Projected Lineup:
- Cedric Mullins
- Jonathan Villar
- Trey Mancini
- Chris Davis
- Joey Rickard
- Renato Nunez
- DJ Stewart
- Richie Martin
- Pedro Severino
Forgive me, but I don’t even know most of the guys toward the bottom of the lineup. Cedric Mullins is exciting because of his combination of speed and power and Jonathan Villar has some pop in the 2-hole. Trey Mancini could hit 30 bombs but won’t offer much else.
After that, I really don’t know. Chris Davis was about as bad as anyone has ever been a season ago. Is he a Comeback Player of the Year candidate? If he gets back to replacement level, I guess he’s in the running. It’s just hard to imagine him ever producing again, though.
2019 Baltimore Orioles Predictions: Projected Rotation:
- Andrew Cashner
- Nate Karns
- Dylan Bundy
- David Hess
- Mike Wright
The guy I like here is Hess, who is a well-balanced pitcher who went through his ups and downs last season. I believe he could be decent this season.
Same goes for Karns, who pitched for Tampa Bay and Seattle before coming over to the Orioles. He looked best in Tampa Bay, which has me doubtful the Orioles, who just can’t compete with Tampa Bay’s pitching coaches.
2019 Baltimore Orioles Predictions: Projected Closer:
- Mychal Givens
Zach Britton is gone; Brad Brach is gone. The sidewinding Mychal Givens will get the opportunity to close games to begin the season.

How many opportunities to earn a save will he get, though?
2019 Baltimore Orioles Predictions:
If you want to get rich fast and don’t have a lot of capital to do so, Baltimore could be your team. At 1000/1 to win it all, the Orioles are tied with Detroit for the longest odds in the Majors.
