Los Angeles Angels
I am not a fan of the makeup of the Angels but if they are around .500 maybe they can go on a run and be a Wild Card team. Cleveland has not looked good and my gut says Tampa is no sure thing. They have Shohei Otani back now and that makes a big difference for the lineup and eventually they are going to get Justin Upton too. Mike Trout has reinforcements.

The lineup can be good which puts more pressure on the pitching staff. I am not sure they are up to the challenge though. Trevor Cahill just doesn’t have it any more. He is giving up more than a homer per start and does not have the stuff to pitch himself out of trouble. Minnesota should be very comfortable against him.
Minnesota Twins
Minnesota is playing good ball for sure but part of their lead in the AL Central is that Cleveland has been meh. I like this team but I am not sure they have enough pitching if/when Cleveland finally gets their act together. The offense has been very powerful to this point but I am not sure that is sustainable either. They lost the first game of this series as the offense was held in check.

Jose Berrios has the best stuff on the staff but it is Jake Odorizzi that has been the most effective starter for Minnesota – lowest ERA and WHIP. He has not given up a run in three straight starts covering 20 innings and has only given up 2ER at home on the season. In short he is on a run but since he is a lower profile guy there could still be some value.
