Panthers Super Bowl Odds
Carolina Panthers 6/1
The Panthers finished with the best record in the NFL and they will have home field advantage in the playoffs. QB Cam Newton has to be the front-runner for the MVP, especially after Carson Palmer’s poor performance in the last game of the season, and the Carolina D is solid.
Here are 5 reasons the Panthers can win Super Bowl.

1. Cam Newton – MVP –
Cam Newton came into his own this season passing for 35 TD and only throwing 10 INT. While he leads an offense that only ranked 24th in the league in passing yards per game he was the 2nd leading rusher for a team that ranks 2nd in the league in rushing yards per game.

He has limited his mistakes and has made plays with his legs when he has had to.
2. There is no place like home –
The Panthers were undefeated at home this season (8-0) and while they did not play the toughest schedule in the league they still beat the Redskins and Packers in their house and both of those teams made the playoffs.
Oh yeah, their other game facing a team that made the post-season was the Seahawks, who they beat in Seattle. Carolina has home field advantage through the playoffs and that is a big advantage for the Panthers.

3. Defense, defense, defense –
The Carolina defense does not get a lot of credit, as that is not hard to believe with how well Newton has played this season, but that is the strength of the team. They rank 6th overall on defense and they rank 11th against the pass and 4th against the run.
Carolina only surrendered 23 total points combined in their last 2 games. Luke Kuechly is the leader of the defense and he ranked 13th in the league in tackles even though he missed 3 games due to injury.
4. The rushing game is solid –
Jonathan Stewart was the team’s leading rusher on the season and he and Newton combined to rush for 1,625 yards on the season. In an interesting stat there were 5 Carolina players that had at least 105 rushing yards on the season and every one of them averaged over 4 yards per carry.
In the 3 games facing playoffs teams from this season he combined for 246 yards.
5. The pass rush –
The Panthers have a solid pass rush that ranked 6th in the league in sacks this season, which will be key on the playoffs.

Besides the Panthers the Vikings are the only other playoff team from the NFC that is led by the ground game. Getting to the QB will be key and Carolina has been great at that all season.
Kawann Short led the team with 11 sacks, which was tied for 8th most in the league, and the Panthers have 6 players that had at least 2 sacks this season.
