Red Raiders vs. Bearcats Gameday
The No. 8 Texas Tech Red Raiders visit the Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Kickoff at Nippert Stadium is scheduled for noon ET on FS1. Cincinnati’s 100th Homecoming celebration gives this Big 12 showdown an added edge.
Texas Tech enters 6-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play under Joey McGuire. The Red Raiders have won both road games and remain among the nation’s unbeaten teams.
They have no intention of letting Homecoming become a Cincinnati celebration.
Texas Tech brings an unbeaten record, but Cincinnati hasn’t lost at home this season.
Cincinnati stands 4-2 overall and 1-2 in the Big 12 under Scott Satterfield. The Bearcats have dropped two consecutive road games after opening with four victories. Returning to Nippert gives them an opportunity to steady their season.
Texas Tech won the previous meeting, but the Red Raiders have never played at Nippert Stadium. This will be their first visit to Cincinnati.
It’s Week 8, Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. Cincinnati Bearcats, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. Cincinnati Bearcats Odds & Previous Games
Texas Tech opened as the -433 moneyline favorite, with Cincinnati priced at +335. The Red Raiders are laying 10.5 points on the road, while the Bearcats are getting 10.5 at home. The total is set at 56.5 points.
Texas Tech has won its last five games, defeating Arizona State 53-25, Colorado 29-7 and Sam Houston 49-14. The Red Raiders also beat Houston 28-26.
Oregon State fell 35-24 in the other victory during that stretch.
Cincinnati has gone 3-2 over its last five games, defeating Kansas State 31-26, Miami (OH) 35-31 and Western Carolina 62-10. The Bearcats also lost 34-7 at Arizona. West Virginia handed them a 45-42 defeat in their latest outing.

Bearcats Stats
Cincinnati has scored 211 points through six games, averaging 35.2 per contest. The Bearcats have generated 1,373 passing yards and 1,392 rushing yards. Their offensive balance has given opposing defenses plenty to consider.
Cole Tabb leads the backfield with 448 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Gi’Bran Payne has added 418 yards and two scores.
Payne’s reported ankle issue makes his availability worth monitoring.
Cincinnati has enough offensive weapons to compete, but defensive consistency remains a serious concern.
The Bearcats have allowed 161 points, an average of 26.8 per game. Their defense has recorded 14 sacks and recovered three opponent fumbles. Those disruptive plays haven’t always translated into stops when Cincinnati needs them most.
Opponents have found opportunities to sustain drives and exploit coverage mistakes. Cincinnati needs better tackling and fewer breakdowns against a Texas Tech offense capable of punishing both.
Satterfield cannot afford another afternoon of defensive generosity.
Red Raiders Stats
Texas Tech has scored 227 points through six games, averaging 37.8 per contest. The Red Raiders have accumulated 1,159 rushing yards while maintaining a productive passing attack. McGuire’s offense can generate explosive gains without abandoning its ground game.
J’Koby Williams has rushed for 538 yards and five touchdowns. Kenny Johnson leads the receiving corps with 418 yards and one score.
Coy Eakin has added 218 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Texas Tech has allowed 106 points, an average of 17.7 per game. The defense has recorded 17 sacks and 11 interceptions. Its ability to pressure quarterbacks and capitalize on mistakes has helped protect the unbeaten record.
The Red Raiders have also shown they can create scoring opportunities directly from defensive plays. That gives opponents another reason to protect the football.
McGuire will expect that aggression to travel to Cincinnati.
Red Raiders vs. Bearcats QB Matchup
JC French IV directs Cincinnati’s offense and has been efficient through six games. He has completed 108 of 153 passes for 1,338 yards. French has thrown nine touchdowns without an interception, giving the Bearcats dependable production under center.
French has also rushed for 245 yards and six touchdowns. His mobility creates additional problems for defenses that focus exclusively on the passing game.
Texas Tech needs to keep him contained on passing downs.
French has completed more than 70 percent of his attempts, reflecting his accuracy and decision-making. He has generally avoided forcing throws into coverage. The challenge Saturday will be maintaining that discipline against an aggressive pass rush.
Backup Liam O’Brien has completed all five of his passes for 18 yards in limited action. French remains Cincinnati’s established starter and the centerpiece of Satterfield’s offense.
His ability to handle pressure will be critical.

Texas Tech counters with Will Hammond, who has thrown for 1,334 yards through six games. He has six touchdown passes and five interceptions on 168 attempts. Hammond also offers mobility, giving the Red Raiders another option when plays break down.
Thomas Castellanos has seen limited passing opportunities behind Hammond, recording 45 yards on five attempts. Hammond remains the primary quarterback, and his decision-making will be tested by a Cincinnati defense looking to create takeaways.
Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. Cincinnati Bearcats bottom line: Texas Tech brings the more complete team, but Cincinnati’s balanced offense and unbeaten home record make this a legitimate road test.
Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. Cincinnati Bearcats Football Betting Trends
- The Red Raiders have a strong record against the spread in away games, going 9-2 in their last 11 contests.
- Texas Tech is 18-1 straight up in their last 19 games following a win.
- Also, the Bearcats have been consistent at home, winning all 4 of their last home games straight up.
- The Bearcats have seen the total go over in 4 of their last 5 games.
- Additionally, Texas Tech has covered the spread in all 3 of their last games following a win.
- Cincinnati has covered the spread in 3 of their last 4 home games.
Red Raiders Bearcats Free Pick: Over 56.5
Here is my Red Raiders Bearcats free pick: I’m betting Over 56.5. Cincinnati has gone Over in four of its last five games, and Texas Tech has enough scoring punch to push this total. The Bearcats don’t need to win to help cash it. With Texas Tech favored by 10.5, a Cincinnati comeback attempt could keep the passing game active.
That matters more to this bet than who controls the fourth quarter.
I want Cincinnati throwing punches, not waving the white flag.
The Bearcats need to contribute points, not simply keep the score respectable.
Texas Tech’s defense is the biggest obstacle. If the Red Raiders dominate early downs, Cincinnati could spend too much time punting.
But Cincinnati’s offense has enough balance to produce scoring drives. A couple of quick answers would put serious pressure on this number.
This isn’t a bet on a last-second miracle. I’m expecting Texas Tech to score consistently, with Cincinnati doing enough damage to keep the total climbing. Both offenses have a path to the end zone. The Red Raiders can win comfortably and this bet can still cash.
I’m taking Over 56.5.
