Hoosiers vs. Wolverines Gameday
The No. 6 Indiana Hoosiers visit the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Kickoff at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor is scheduled for noon ET on FOX. This Big Ten showdown features two programs trying to strengthen their conference position.
Indiana enters 6-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play under Curt Cignetti. The Hoosiers have won both road games but are coming off their first defeat.
Ann Arbor isn’t the easiest place to start another winning streak.
Indiana brings the stronger record, but Michigan’s defense makes this a serious road assignment.
Michigan stands 4-2 overall and 1-2 in the Big Ten. Kyle Whittingham’s Wolverines are 4-1 at home and enter Saturday following a victory over Penn State. Another win would put Michigan back on firmer footing in the conference race.
Indiana took the most recent meeting, although Michigan has historically dominated this series. The Wolverines will be looking to defend that tradition in front of their home crowd.
It’s Week 8, Indiana Hoosiers vs. Michigan Wolverines, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Wolverines Stats
Michigan has scored 136 points through six games, averaging 22.7 per contest. The Wolverines have struggled to establish a dependable passing attack. Their offense has been more comfortable leaning on the running game and letting the defense control field position.
Jordan Marshall leads the rushing attack with 293 yards and four touchdowns. Receiver JJ Buchanan has contributed 482 receiving yards and four scores.
Michigan needs more consistent production from its supporting cast.
Michigan’s defense has kept games manageable, but the offense cannot keep wasting possessions.
The Wolverines have allowed 97 points, averaging 16.2 per contest. Their defense has recorded 14 sacks and six interceptions. That combination of pressure and takeaways has helped compensate for uneven offensive performances.
Michigan has been particularly effective when opponents fall behind the chains. Its defensive front can create difficult passing situations without sacrificing coverage.
Whittingham needs that group at its best against Indiana.
Hoosiers Stats
Indiana has scored 256 points through seven games, averaging 36.6 per contest. The Hoosiers have accumulated 1,404 rushing yards while maintaining a productive passing attack. Their offensive balance has made them one of the Big Ten’s more difficult teams to defend.
Turbo Richard leads the backfield with 643 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Lee Beebe Jr. has added 575 yards and four scores.
Cignetti has no shortage of options when establishing the ground game.
The Hoosiers have allowed 90 points, averaging 12.9 per game. Their defense has recorded 24 sacks, regularly disrupting opposing quarterbacks. That pressure has helped Indiana control games without requiring its offense to score on every possession.
Indiana has shown it can compete defensively against strong opposition. The unit’s ability to limit explosive plays will be important in Ann Arbor.
Michigan’s offensive line faces a demanding afternoon.
Hoosiers vs. Wolverines QB Matchup
Bryce Underwood opened the season as Michigan’s starting quarterback. Through six games, he has thrown for 924 yards, five touchdowns and six interceptions. His inconsistency eventually prompted a change during the Penn State matchup.
Underwood completed five of 11 passes for 43 yards and two interceptions before being replaced at halftime. Freshman Tommy Carr entered and helped the Wolverines rally.
That performance has complicated Michigan’s quarterback decision.
Carr completed five of seven passes for 47 yards against Penn State. He also rushed for 36 yards and scored a touchdown. His mobility gave Michigan another way to extend possessions.
Carr is reportedly expected to start against Indiana, although Whittingham has not publicly confirmed the decision. Underwood remains an alternative if Michigan changes direction.
The Wolverines need better ball security regardless of who starts.

Indiana counters with Josh Hoover, who has completed 108 of 169 passes for 1,660 yards. He has thrown 18 touchdowns without an interception through seven games. Hoover’s ability to protect the football while generating explosive plays has been central to Indiana’s success.
Grant Wilson has completed four of five passes for 74 yards and two touchdowns in limited action. Hoover remains Indiana’s established starter and faces a Michigan defense capable of creating pressure.
Indiana Hoosiers vs. Michigan Wolverines bottom line: Indiana has the steadier quarterback situation, while Michigan needs disciplined defense and cleaner offensive execution to challenge the Hoosiers.

Hoosiers Wolverines Free Pick: Under 41.5
Here is my Hoosiers Wolverines free pick: I’m backing Under 41.5. Michigan’s quarterback uncertainty makes a conservative offensive approach likely. Indiana’s defense is equipped to punish mistakes.
The Wolverines need to shorten this game, not trade touchdowns. That means protecting field position and avoiding unnecessary passing risks.
Michigan’s best chance is making this ugly.
Indiana can win this game without either offense turning it into a scoring contest.
The Hoosiers have enough talent to score, but Michigan’s defensive front should make sustained drives difficult. I expect both coaches to value possession over unnecessary risks. A few third-down stops could decide this total.
Turnovers are the obvious danger. Give either offense a short field, and 41.5 gets uncomfortable quickly.
I’m betting those cheap points stay off the board.
Big Blue needs a defensive fight to stay competitive, and IU has no reason to force a shootout. That combination gives me the scoring script I want.
Two physical defenses, limited possessions, and a QB situation Michigan can’t afford to gamble with.
I’m staying below the number with Under 41.5.
