The Minnesota Golden Gophers will look to go one game over .500 this Saturday, as they travel to West Lafayette to take on the Purdue Boilermakers during the early window of this college football slate.
The Purdue Boilermakers are coming off of a nice win last time out against the Illinois Fighting Illini winning a tight one which ended up 13-9 flexing some defensive muscle in that contest.
Minnesota Golden Gophers
Minnesota is really tough to put your finger on, as they just lost to the Bowling Green Falcons which frankly should not happen, as Bowling Green is one of the worst teams in a weak MAC conference.
It would be very easy for us to just say Minnesota is bad, but you then look at the game before that and see a 30-0 win over Colorado, so I genuinely think we have no idea which Golden Gophers team we are going to get here.
Generally you expect a team to come back with a big performance after a performance like that, and if they are able to shake that loss off and let it motivate them, they certainly have the talent to be able to beat Purdue. I would look out for running back Treyson Potts here, as he has looked electric at times and getting the run game going will be critical to success here in this matchup.
Purdue Boilermakers
The Boilermakers are perfect this year outside of a loss to Notre Dame and they really have looked good in plenty of their games and should be able to give the Golden Gophers everything they can handle here.
QB Aiden O’Connell has also looked pretty good so far this year, but he really does need to clean up the interceptions, as he has thrown 4 already this year and his 2 picks against the Fighting Illini almost cost them that game. The Golden Gophers defense is also no joke, so it will be important for the Boilermakers to find some balance on offense before they go for those deep shots.
