Razorbacks vs. Commodores Gameday
The Arkansas Razorbacks visit the Vanderbilt Commodores in Week 7 of the 2026 college football season. Kickoff is Saturday, October 17, at 7:00 PM ET (6:00 PM CT) from FirstBank Stadium in Nashville, with ESPN2 providing television coverage.
Arkansas enters at 2-4 overall and 0-3 in SEC play under first-year coach Ryan Silverfield. The Razorbacks have dropped two straight and are winless in two road games, making Saturday an important opportunity to stop another season from slipping away.
Neither team has an SEC victory, and patience is running thin on both sidelines.
Vanderbilt is 3-3 overall and 0-3 in the conference after opening the season with three consecutive wins. Clark Lea’s Commodores have since lost three straight, although their 3-1 home record gives them something to build around.
It’s Vanderbilt’s Homecoming weekend, and FirstBank Stadium is sold out. The Commodores need to regain some confidence before traveling to Kentucky, while Arkansas heads into its bye week following this matchup.
It’s Week 7, Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Vanderbilt Commodores, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Vanderbilt Commodores Odds & Previous Games
Vanderbilt opened as a 6.5-point favorite with a -226 moneyline, while Arkansas opened at +187. The total is 50.5 points, with the Commodores getting the benefit of home field despite their recent struggles.
Arkansas has gone 1-4 in its last five games, most recently falling 24-17 to Tennessee. The Razorbacks also lost 34-7 at Texas A&M and 45-17 against Georgia, with their lone victory in that stretch coming 34-6 over Tulsa. They previously dropped a 43-10 decision at Utah.
Vanderbilt is 2-3 over its last five outings. The Commodores lost 52-17 to Ole Miss, 38-14 at Georgia and 21-15 at Auburn after beating NC State 35-31 and Delaware 35-26.
Arkansas leads the all-time series 7-3, although Vanderbilt won the last meeting 45-31 in Fayetteville in 2018. The Razorbacks have won all four previous meetings in Nashville, including a 31-28 victory in 2011.

Commodores Stats
Vanderbilt has scored 144 points through six games, averaging 24 per contest. The Commodores generate 348.5 total yards per game, with 228.7 coming through the air and 119.8 on the ground. That rushing production ranks among the weakest in the country.
Sedrick Alexander leads the ground game with 213 yards and four TD’s, while Junior Sherrill has caught 33 passes for 529 yards and three scores. Vanderbilt has capable playmakers, but getting them consistent opportunities remains a problem.
Vanderbilt has enough talent to move the chains, but its ground game isn’t helping much.
The defense has allowed 177 points, averaging 29.5 per game. Opponents produce 353.5 total yards per contest, including 214 passing and 139.5 rushing. Vanderbilt has also recorded 15 sacks and five interceptions.
Injuries have reduced the Commodores’ depth. Defensive lineman Aaron Bryant is out for the season with a torn ACL, while linebacker Jamison Curtis, cornerback Jaylin Lackey and receiver Kahden Smith are ruled out for Saturday.
Starting safety Dontae Carter is questionable, along with Brian Allen Jr. and Hayden Bray. Those absences and uncertainties put additional pressure on Vanderbilt’s available defenders.
Razorbacks Stats
Arkansas has scored 116 points, averaging 19.3 per game. The Razorbacks generate 327.2 yards per contest, including 228.2 passing yards and only 99 rushing yards. That lack of balance has made sustained offensive production difficult.
Sutton Smith leads the rushing attack with 166 yards and one TD on 50 carries. Receiver Chris Marshall has been the most productive target, collecting 42 receptions for 605 yards and two TD’s.
Defensively, Arkansas has surrendered 166 points and 352.3 yards per game. The Razorbacks allow 202.8 passing yards and 149.5 rushing yards per contest, while recording nine sacks, three interceptions and four fumble recoveries.
Those defensive numbers aren’t impressive, but Arkansas has occasionally limited opponents despite struggling offensively. The challenge is producing enough stops without asking the defense to spend most of the night protecting a narrow margin.
Injuries are another concern. Tight end Maddox Lassiter and defensive back Braydon Lee are out, while offensive lineman Josiah Clemons is doubtful. Receiver Antonio Jordan and tight end Gavin Garretson are questionable.
Razorbacks vs. Commodores QB Matchup
Jared Curtis is Vanderbilt’s expected starting QB after returning against Ole Miss. The freshman has completed 82 of 130 passes for 968 yards, five TD’s and five interceptions across five appearances. Curtis completed 19 of 32 passes for 222 yards against Ole Miss, throwing one TD and two interceptions. He has the arm to challenge opposing secondaries, but his decision-making remains inconsistent.
Blaze Berlowitz has completed 28 of 53 passes for 386 yards, one TD and one interception. However, the senior suffered a broken collarbone against Ole Miss and is unavailable Saturday. Whit Muschamp is the expected first replacement behind Curtis, with Jack Elliott another option.
Arkansas is expected to start KJ Jackson, who has completed 110 of 184 passes for 1,193 yards. Jackson has seven TD’s against four interceptions, averaging 198.8 passing yards per appearance.
Jackson managed 155 passing yards against Tennessee after throwing for only 111 at Texas A&M. His completion rate sits below 60%, and the Razorbacks need more reliable execution from their passing game.
CP Is More Than Just Sports Picks!
“ Anybody can post a prediction. CappersPicks backs up its sports picks with opinionated matchup analysis, experienced handicappers & documented betting performance. Pad that bankroll one day at a time! ”
AJ Hill provides Arkansas with another option under center. Hill has attempted 28 passes across two appearances, producing 181 yards, one TD and no interceptions.
Both expected starters face considerable pressure to deliver cleaner performances. Curtis has the home crowd behind him, while Jackson needs to make better use of Arkansas’ receiving talent. Neither offense can afford repeated mistakes on early downs. That puts a premium on protecting the football and keeping manageable third-down situations.
Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Vanderbilt Commodores bottom line: Both teams need more reliable quarterback play, and the offense that handles third downs and protects the football should control this SEC matchup.
Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Vanderbilt Commodores Football Betting Trends
- The Razorbacks are 18-12 against the spread in their last 30 away games.
- Arkansas has a 17-12 over/under record in their last 29 away games.
- Also, the Razorbacks have a 17-12 over/under record after a loss in their last 29 games.
- The Commodores are 11-0 straight up as favorites in their last 11 games.
- Additionally, Vanderbilt has a perfect 4-0 over/under record after a loss in their last 4 games.
- The Commodores have a 10-2 record against the spread after a loss in their last 12 games.
Razorbacks Commodores Free Pick: Under 50.5
Here is my Razorbacks Commodores free pick: Under 50.5 points. Arkansas has gone under in five of six games, and I see more reasons for another controlled scoring game than a sudden offensive breakout. Vanderbilt is favored by 6.5, but that doesn’t mean the Commodores are equipped to run away with this one.
Arkansas has gone 17-12 to the over following a loss in its last 29 games, while Vanderbilt has gone over in four straight following a defeat. Those historical trends lean the other way, but I’m more interested in how these teams can realistically reach 51 points Saturday.
I’m betting on possessions ending without touchdowns, not asking either defense to pitch a shutout.
The danger is turnovers creating short fields, especially if Vanderbilt gets aggressive early. Otherwise, Arkansas has little incentive to turn this into a shootout on the road, and the Commodores can protect a lead without pushing the pace.
A 24-20 game cashes this ticket without requiring anything extraordinary. That’s the kind of scoring range I’m buying, and I don’t need either offense to suddenly discover a fifth gear. Under 50.5 is my bet.
